actually no, Chinese does have gendered pronouns, 他 for he/him, 她 for she/her, it's just that the pronunciation for the terms is the same. Shin's fic definitely uses 他 for both of takainoo so the fact that google translate is actively changing the gender to fit hetero stds is absolutely FASCINATING
