As the match ended strong and the whistle did sound,
The Sons of Ben cheered, joy unbound.
And I heard them exclaim, as we marched out of sight:
“Happy matchday to all, and to all a DOOP night!”

The badge on their chests and the rattlesnake’s might,
Showed the world once again, Philly’s ready to fight.
We sang and we chanted, ‘til our voices gave way,
For the Union, our club, on this magical day.

The players were clad in their navy and gold,
With hearts full of fire, determined and bold.
Their feet, how they danced! Their shots, how precise!
Their passion igniting the stadium twice.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the pitch,
The sweet sound of DOOP, our victorious switch.
As I drew in my breath and stood up with a cheer,
I knew in my heart, another win was near.

As Sons of Ben roar when the whistle does blow,
We pushed through defenders, with that Philly flow.
So into the box the Union they flew,
With Gazdag’s perfect pass, and Baribo too.

Then up in attack, Baribo took flight,
Playing with purpose, a true guiding light.
With strength and precision, he carried the play,
Like the candles that burn through each Hanukkah day.

“Now Wagner! Now Mbaizo! Now Glesnes and Harriel!
On McGlynn! On Sullivan! Let’s make this imperial!
And anchoring the line, with a move smooth and slick,
The wall in the back, Ian Glavinović!”

With a coiled rattlesnake, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, this would be our trick.
More rapid than rivals, our players they came,
And the crowd whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:

The lights on the pitch, shining golden and bright,
Gave the luster of victory to this magical night.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Gazdag’s finesse, with defenders in fear.

When out on the field, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.
Away to the capo stand, I flew like a flash,
Raised high my SoB scarf and prepared for the clash.

The fans were all nestled, snug in their blue,
Dreaming of Blake’s saves, so steady and true.
And Curtin’s departure, still fresh in our minds,
Had us rallying together, with banners and signs.

‘Twas the night before matchday, and all through the stands,
Not a supporter was silent, not even the band.
The scarves were all hung by the tailgate with care,
In hopes that a Union win soon would be there.
