Migrated from the hell hole and found it much better for my mental health here. I live a quiet retired life in rural Suffolk, UK with Himself who is finally working part-time in the wind down to retirement, 12 yr old arthritic dog, 2 cats and 3 chickens.

What changed? In 2022 Labour were all for clean air in our schools. All for vaccines. Since they came into power they have ignored airborne risk, failed to update the COVID guidance from the Tories, removed 13 million covid vaccines from many who shielded. A very different Labour.

Belated Happy Birthday to her. Sounds like an ideal way to spend a special birthday.

MPs’ basic salary to rise to Β£110,000 by end of parliament, watchdog says Ipsa cites rising abuse and constituency workloads as reasons for above-inflation increase of 5% from April

MPs’ basic salary to rise to Β£110,000 by end of parliament, watchdog says.

This should be accompanied by a total ban on second jobs, which in most cases is a corporate bribe. Must end all conflict of interests.

Being a MP is a full time job. MPs must act exclusively as MPs.

Never have I been more aware of the value in terms of price the government sees our lives as being worth and that isn’t seemingly even the cost of a vaccine. Yet many of us pay a lot of tax, have jobs that give back to others. They don’t think of broader contexts.

Thanks Hilary. Me too. Feels mild compared with the first bout I had as at least I can get out of bed. Just need to remember not to move my head suddenly or bend down to pick things up!

The question of why the UK isn’t involved in America’s latest war can be answered with a single image.

It can also be answered by reminding the current US Administration that insulting our war dead, and questioning their heroism, has consequences.

Also as an anecdote. In the old days when we hand delivered and collected the annual electoral registration forms and the Census I had many a woman say oh I leave my husband to do that, I'm don't get involved. They were usually white and middle class. Wonder who they voted for!

I worked on elections for c25 yrs. We'd stop people going into booths together. If they say they can't read/understand the paper the Presiding Officer is authorised to read it out to them and mark the ballot at their request. We had to complete forms confirming this. It was rare that we had to.

They're very popular with us over 60s too! And in what is a predominantly rural area which used to be very Tory.

Thanks. Yes had a really bad bout of it 15 yrs ago. Was so bad I couldn't even get out of bed. Like being seasick and very drunk at the same time! It went on for ages and ended up having a hearing test at the hospital. Found it destroyed the lower range of my hearing. This is mild by comparison!🀞

I've a present to get for an old friend whose birthday is next month. You've now reminded me about it so I'll have to plan my visit to Diss for when it's open πŸ˜…

You'd have thought so. Wonder how he ever won a case at this stage let alone be the former DPP and a human rights lawyer knighted for his services πŸ€”

Morning all. Trying to read posts but scrolling through + reading is making me wobbly atm. Seems to have developed an inner ear infection so I feel like I'm on one of ArmWrap's ships! Lovely day again today but will not be able to enjoy it 😭. Still animals have been fed so all's right in their world

I could do with him to catch the bloody rats living in the walls of our barn and garage! My two only tackle the babies though the boy is an excellent mole catcher and both have caught their share of baby rabbits. Which the dog steals and eats!

I've been in occasionally but usually depends where I've parked (steep hill to climb if you've parked The Mere end!) and what day. My chiropractor is that end of town but I usually end up being in on a day they're closed. It's a good place to visit for unusual gifts.

It's about half an hour away. There are lots of artists round here and many art clubs. Every year in May there's the Harleston and Waveney Art Trail where artists open up their studios to visitors. You should come up while it's on usually last two weekends in May.

Yes we had loads of them in our garden last year and still more as I walked down the lane. They've not turned up on the Merlin app yet.

Just wanted to point out to Farage that 1 in 3 people in Clacton have been out of work for up to 3 decades. So what does that also tell us?

This is Benjamin Netanyahu's son Yair. While working class American service people are dying in the gratuitous war his father and Donald Trump started, Yair is poolside in Miami chilling.

No word on where Donald Trump's children were, just that they were 100% *not* wearing a uniform.
