Gold Coin of Croesus

Have rediscovered A History of The World in 100 Objects, and was fairly excited to find that Croeseid coins have their very own episode!

Fascinating world of ancient #glass: this absolutely stunning #Roman ribbed bowl was unearthed fully intact with little to no wear during excavations in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
Monochrome ribbed bowls made of brightly coloured glass were very popular throughout...🧡 1/2

Lead Bullets | Armitt Discovered dispersed across the Ambleside Roman fort site are these lead bullets. These are evidence that there could have been a Battle of Ambleside.

You can read The Armitt’s Roman Ambleside digital trail entry on the sling bullets and our knowledge of the so-called Battle of Ambleside here, researched and written by @arcdurham.bsky.social student Isla Mustin

And here is the final photo for the trail itself 😱 Recent work by Edinburgh Uni and @trimontiumtrust.bsky.social suggests the sling bullets, all found scattered extramurally, are evidence for at least one battle outside the fort between the Roman army and the local population.
