Could it be that the biological diversity of sleep patterns is in fact a great boon to the safety and efficiency of human civilization and only ever a problem due to unreasonable cultural expectations of conformity not accommodating and celebrating it?

Received some very fun art drawn by @skybluearts.bsky.social, commissioned by way of @merlekoz.com! Big thanks and appreciation to Merle, and Sorena for her excellent artwork!

03.02.2026 05:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0That and compressors simply aren't fun to noodle with, we're usually throwing them on when we need them but they're not like a fun effect or synth where learning is fun, kinda gotta set time aside to experiment tweaking ratios and knee types to hear what it does to different signal transients

Traditional old VU meter compressors are especially hard to learn, when you can hear what the compressor is doing it usually means something is wrong (unless that's the goal)
Modern comps like Pro-C with visual feedback make learning a lot easier, seeing exactly what's happening to the signal
I want to dip tortilla chips in it

It's much worse than offloading our critical thinking to something more intelligent than us, it's offloading it to something that does not think at all

Of course the answer is no (1/2)

'tis the season for holiday cards from the always delightful @pipesburrow.bsky.social! It might be cold outside but letters from raccoons make the world just a bit warmer. Thank you my friend!

he's a little complicated to paint, so i took some progress pictures to help me remember.
pink/orange/viridian/white, then cerulean and white, then cerulean and cobalt, then prussian and neutral tint. let the white of the paper show through, don't over do it!
I dunno if it translates to DJ sets exactly, but best tip I got for this when writing music was as much as possible listen to WIP tracks in mono, and pitch-shifted +/- a few semitones. Everything sounds like garbage but if it can still get you moving even a little you know something is working right
26.12.2025 22:19 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Picture of a paper back book titled: Raccoons are the Brightest People by Sterling North. The front cover shows a raccoon, who looks to be smiling, on a tree. All of his raccoon friends must be very jealous. Bottom text reads: The delightful bestseller by the author of Rascal. "A one of a kind book... a sure winner." BOSTON HERALD
On the inside of the hardcover edition of the book is an illustrated map featuring multiple trees, houses, and ponds. On the bottom left corner is are the words: A place fit for raccoons.
A page with one sentence in the middle that says: To the one girl and the many raccoons in my life.
Came across the absolute best book in my eBay recommendations yesterday.
A perfect last minute gift for that special raccoon in your life
