Communing with each other during all this, writing it all down now is work that does need doing, and securely. The more of us that do it, the more the insane pace of it all isn’t able to get the better of us.

Sometimes (a lot of the time) it’s all too much. but that notion has helped me a little. ♥️

i’ve been reading through a really amazing well-curated archive of interviews w/ people who lived through the AIDS epidemic in the 80s and 90s, and so many of those interviews were done decades after the fact, finding survivors and persuading them to relay stories about their lost loved ones.

i’m right there with you.

a thought that has brought me some resolve to write recently is that the people who are lucky enough to find ways to survive despite it all are the ones that get to help archive, preserve memories, rebuild the historical record when it’s over. It’s crucial work.

I’m happy for you! I didn’t even know you’re trans. I was just clarifying that top surgery was the recovery experience *I* was pulling from. Your post was non-specific (but it’s none of my business what surgery you’re having). Hope you have an easy recovery! 👍🏼

Get family/ friends to help you with literally everything. Sleep elevated up on a wedge pillow. Ultimately: Do not compromise instructions on no lifting/ rest from your surgeon. Physically healing will take a lot more of your energy than you realize. You will be tired out by just laying there. GL! ♥️

From a top surgery haver: Early & repeated reminders to kiddo that you are sick & hugging hurts right now. Analogies like “gentle like a baby bunny, no squeezing” make it easier to parse. If it comes to the point where you need a person to physically guard you from attack-hugs, you should get that.

Breaking: Military issues policy banning trans military service, implementing Trump EO The policy was filed Wednesday evening in a challenge to the executive order and will be subject to legal challenges.

NEW: DOD issued its new military policy on Wednesday banning all transgender people who are living as themselves from joining or continuing to serve in the military. Under the policy, “separation actions” of current service members who are transgender are to begin within the next two months.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.
