New register for people convicted of child cruelty offences Child cruelty convictions such as neglect and abandonment will face the same police notification requirements as registered sex offenders.

It is being created via government amendments to the Crime and Policing Bill, currently at report stage in the House of Lords.

It will also cover offences related to child female genital mutilation, and those convicted of causing or allowing the death or serious injury to a child.
