Vigil marks second anniversary of JuaΜrez detention center fire that killed 40 migrants
Immigrant rights advocates and clergy hold in vigil in JuaΜrez in memory of the 40 migrants who died in the 2023 migrant detention shelter fire.
Last Thursday immigrant rights advocates from both sides of the border commemorated the 2nd anniversary of the tragic fire in Ciudad JuΓ‘rez that left 40 migrants dead. Two years later the case remains in impunity and the head of Mexico's migration remains in office.

President Trump Will Not Be as Powerful as He Seems
Donald Trump was a spectacularly weak president during his first term. All signs point to him being spectacularly weak during his second.
This is a good corrective by @coreyrobin.bsky.social to some of the doom-mongering hype about Trump being able to pull of all his worst plans. Yes he will do a lot of damage and hurt, but he is weaker than we think and that means resistance can also make a difference. jacobin.com/2024/12/trum...
