Lawyer. DEI Professional. I don’t post much, and am mainly just here to follow sports, fantasy books/shows, anime, politics, and Black folk. Plotting the resistance. Never talk to the police w/o a lawyer!

Have you stopped to ask why we are still having “firsts” to begin with?
Why did it take centuries before having the first Black president?
Identity politics isn’t the issue. The issue is with the people who constructed the barriers to keep others out. Start there.
If the Democratic Party was what they actually believed themselves to be, Rep. Green’s sign wouldn’t have been ripped down, he would be surrounded by party members, and the Dems wouldn’t have lended legitimacy to the SOTU.
But too many are still more concerned with civility over justice.
This was the only acceptable reason to attend the SOTU. If you weren’t there to disrupt, you’re only lending it legitimacy.

I appreciate this story, both because it continues to confirm Costco is the way to go and because it will legitimately save me money.
I wish we had this analysis easily available for other states and stores.
Can I get an app where I can input my grocery list and it tells me the best store?
It could absolutely mean good things. I didn’t mean to imply it’s only bad.
But I just wouldn’t rule out the idea of voters attempting to manipulate an open primary. And with unclear data, didn’t want to get too presumptuous.
If true, that’s helpful. I was understanding the data as the total number of ballots cast in each primary, which wouldn’t be tied to party registration in an open primary, right?
But if this is tied to party registration, then that’s good news for Dems at this point.
That’s helpful context. Appreciate it. Obviously the incentive for them to play sabotage goes down if they also have a real interest in the GOP primary.

We probably don’t have data showing this, but couldn’t this mean that a bunch of Republicans are choosing to vote in the Democrat primary? If so, is that really a good thing?
It could mean those republicans prefer a Dem, but it could also mean they are trying to support their weaker opponent.
They also routinely engage in warrantless searches, unnecessarily escalate encounters, and default to excessive violence.
They suppress evidence, lie on police reports, and partner with the media to push false narratives. They rape and abuse suspects, and disproportionately beat their spouses.
One of the problems with all of the focus on ICE, is that people have forgotten how local police departments are just as abusive, ignorant of constitutional rights, and reckless with authority.
Just because a handful of cops have said ICE is bad, doesn’t mean they are good.

I could send you to different nba games and you wouldn’t find sold out crowds. Do you think the Blazers, Wizards, Jazz, Pelicans, or Hornets are selling out games right now?
Anecdotal evidence isn’t very useful. And it’s less so when the main revenue is coming from tv contracts, not tickets.
You’re making claims the available evidence suggests are false. Why would multiple ownership groups pay $250 million to buy teams under an unsustainable model?
The union is telling you the leagues claims are false. Both sides are biased, but the league has more reason to lie. So why trust them?
First, there’s zero data to prove it’s currently unsustainable since the wnba won’t release financials.
Second, the fact that in the last couple years, the league has made over a billion dollars in expansion fees alone suggests that ppl with money believe it’s more than financially viable.
I’m not going to lie, Americans make it really hard to root for America.

We have our Black American culture, but we're not the enemies of Black folks anywhere else in the Diaspora, it's crucial for us to all unite to throw off our chains under white supremacy.

It’s mildly upsetting that the Duke-Michigan game (3 vs. 1) isn’t trending on BlueSky but Caturday is.
To be clear, no shade at all to whatever caturday is. Just wish there was a bigger college basketball community.
Duke is 11-2 all time against the number one team in the nation.
We’re not new to this!
Michigan has a hell of a defense though.
Watching Duke-Michigan and once again thinking how weird people sound when they say college basketball is better than the NBA.
These are two of the top teams in the country, with multiple NBA prospects on the floor, but the skill level is so much lower that it’s tough to watch. Still #GoDuke
We’ve already shown this can be done with the stimulus checks.
Take the nearly $200 billion collected in tariffs, and distribute it to the people. Set gradual income limits so it prioritizes those who were harmed the most by higher costs.
I’m sure I’m missing details, but it’s clearly possible.
✨ It’s a yes or no question ✨

The WNBA continues to manipulate the books and the public while trying to sell us a lie about profitability.
Even if the claims that it lost $10 million a year every year were true, it’s made over a billion in the last few years from expansion fees alone. But that money isn’t counted… 🤔
I would hope a responsible press would spend the next month asking businesses when they plan to lower prices now that the tariffs are illegal, and reporting on all the ones that don’t lower prices.
