17.07.2025 16:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's nice to hear about my dad. Reading your blog as we speak. Love it!
16.07.2025 16:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'll try to stay away from the obvious choices ("Who's Next", "Dark Side of the Moon", etc.). So here goes: Syd Barrett "The Madcap Laughs"; Sandy Denny "The North Star Grassman and the Ravens"; Fleetwood Mac "Bare Trees"; and Procol Harum "Grand Hotel".
16.07.2025 16:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm seeing the images when I click the link Donna. That's a great picture of you, Rush and John Gorman...I don't recognize the gentlemen on the far left and far right (though they look vaguely familiar. As for memories of 1974, I'm sure I have some but those days are all a blur!
16.07.2025 16:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First, go see #TheLifeofChuck on the big screen. Next, pre-order a copy from Amazon. Then, let me know if you catch my dad's music in the film!

A song my dad wrote and recorded with his 1950's Rockabilly band was included in the fabulous new movie "The Life of Chuck". The song is Rock N Roll Boogie (DJ Spinowitz Remix).

There is now only one degree of separation between us since my dad's 1950's band Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats is included in the remarkable film "The Life of Chuck". The song is Rock N Roll Boogie (Remix) by The Math Club x Kansoma Music ft DJ Spinowitz, taking my dad's song into the 21st Century!
03.07.2025 16:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Many thanks Mr. Flanagan for including my father's music in your remarkable film "The Life of Chuck". The song is Rock N Roll Boogie (Remix) by The Math Club x Kansoma Music ft DJ Spinowitz. To hear my dad's voice and his 1950's band Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats enter the 21st Century is unbelievable.
03.07.2025 16:36 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In what universe does a song from the 1950's performed by my dad's band Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats end up in the amazing new film "The Life of Chuck"? Why, this universe of course!
The song is called Rock N Roll Boogie, with The Math Club x Kansoma Music ft DJ Spinowitz doing a 21st Century Remix.
"Rock Show" by Wings name checks Jimmy Page
12.03.2025 18:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Happy Birthday Donna! Have a great day!
14.02.2025 21:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Great to see you on here Ella! Your music has always been amazing!
22.01.2025 19:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Such wonderful news Donna, that's a fantastic milestone!
17.12.2024 17:41 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I did kind of jump out of my seat at that Jeff!
07.12.2024 16:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's pretty wild Tom! For me it would be The Kinks at a small club in DC called The Emergency. It held about 100 people. This was June of 1970 just as Lola was released and the band was able to tour the U.S again after being banned in 1965. After Lola became a hit they played bigger venues again.
06.12.2024 19:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I always thought so Tom. Back in the days when incredible things were commonplace.
06.12.2024 19:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The first concert I went to was The Who at Georgetown University, November 2, 1969. Certainly one of the Top 5 best concerts I've ever seen, but...
The BEST concert I went to was Pink Floyd at The Kennedy Center, May 3, 1972.

(L-R): Big Al Downing - piano, lead/backing vocals; Vernon Sandusky - lead guitar, backing vocals (notice Vernon's iconic Fender Stratocaster, one of the first ones made); Joe Brawley - drums; and Bobby Poe Sr - lead vocals (my dad's guitar was just for show).

02.12.2024 17:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi Anita, hopefully this picture of my sister's puppy Rosco does the trick. He's a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie).
29.11.2024 02:12 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yes he was kind of a semi-producer as well. Vernon Sandusky and Buck became fast friends.
28.11.2024 01:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Poe Kats (Vernon Sandusky - lead guitar, Big Al Downing - piano and Joe Brawley - drums) backed Wanda Jackson on "Let's Have A Party". Skeets McDonald (bass) and Buck Owens (guitar) were also on the track. Ken Nelson produced. Picture (L-R) Vernon, my dad, Big Al (back), Wanda and Joe Brawley.
28.11.2024 01:07 β π 12 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Besides The Poe Kats (Vernon Sandusky - lead guitar, Big Al Downing - piano and Joe Brawley - drums), Skeets McDonald played bass and one Buck Owens also played some guitar. Ken Nelson produced the track at Capitol. Picture (L-R) Vernon, my dad, Big Al (back), Wanda and Joe Brawley.
