Yes! Also the PC game Duke Nukem (where I first heard that line) was heavily influenced by this movie.

The counselor who advises the national honors society here already reached out to me to offer the help of her students for a project like that. This place is so supportive, because of the staff.

Started my first ever media specialist job, and first ever education job, today. Trying to get this new space into shape! Going to need some student volunteers to catalog the books, they're still boxed up. So much to do! #librarian #mediaspecialist #schoollibrarian #educator

Tech startup idea: instead of starting your car with your key, you get in, turn on the display panel, enter your password, get your phone out, open the authenticator app, enter your pin, enter the timed passcode, then open the start menu, then helpdesk, then "request engine start", then submit a tic

There are four main arguments for AI in education:

1. Efficiency, saving teachers time
2. Equity, making education inclusive
3. Improving outcomes by personalizing learning
4. It's inevitable

Is it true?

Nope.

An illustration from the children's book "the story of Ferdinand". A small bull shyly pokes his head out from a large imposing old fashioned door into a bullfighting arena. He looks intimidated.

Most children's books this old (1936) don't hold up to modern audiences.
But this one does. "The Story of Ferdinand" by Leaf and Lawson.
It still has so much to say about gender and peace, ~90 years later.
I think about it whenever I think about my type of masculinity. #librariansky #childrenslit

โ€œStudents should understand AIโ€™s numerous social, economic, health, and environmental costs. Giving lip service to these big ethical issues while hastily integrating AI sends kids a strong message โ€” the adults donโ€™t really care and neither should you.โ€

If I had to guess it's because ALA manuals explicitly mention that considering diversity is a part of being a librarian. At least the AASL manual does, which is published by the ALA.

The species listed in the post are in a 6 picture grid, and the top to bottom list is in the order that youโ€™d read a page. The masked bee and Texas leaf cutter are on milkweed, the bumblebees are on bee balm and gay feather, the tarnished plant bug is on the tip of bee balm and the leafhopper is on a leaf

Bug rundown at the pollinator plot today. We got:
๐Ÿชฒ Masked bee
๐Ÿชฒ Tarnished plant bug
๐Ÿชฒ Bumblebee (brown belted?)
๐Ÿชฒ Texas leaf cutter bee
๐Ÿชฒ Another bumblebee (there were one zillion bumblebees today)
๐Ÿชฒ A leafhopper of some kind

8 Sought-After Skills Employers Look For A look at eight skills employers look for that will help you stand out when applying for a job. These skills are often important additions to your CV.

๐Ÿงต addressing the argument: โ€œSchools need to prepare students for the jobs of the future.โ€

1. The skills employers seek havenโ€™t changed much over the decadesโ€”and include a lot of โ€œsoft skillsโ€ like initiative, problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking.

A screenshot of the linked Library of Congress website. It looks very simple, few images, nothing interactive that hides information behind it, overall a pretty modest amount of information.
Basic blue is used for the link color, and default serif font used as the type face, two things that have been overwritten with custom colors and fonts in every modern website, even governmental ones.

The library of Congress publishes a guide on a database standard used in libraries, MARC. Its web design, according to archive.org, was first implemented in 2004.
MARC was first invented in the 1960's.
I love how delightfully archaic but functional everything about this is.

I was wowed by my mom's copies of wired around 1996. They had these artsy photo-heavy sci-fi spreads sometimes, and the covers and ads.... Permanently implanted this 90's high saturation cyber-futuristic aesthetic in my brain before I understood half the words in the articles.

Of course anybody who has done anything ever at any level of competency learns quickly that work is the entire point. The experience is key. Failure is learning. Effort is execution. AI shortcuts all of that. It's for people who care nothing for journey and everything for destination. It's empty.
