the story goes that 1500 years before the New World was new, a palestinian jew was killed by an occupying european military for forming a movement challenging the status quo of capitalistic colonialism, then they persecuted this movement until it was fully integrated as another imperial organelle

americans knew genociding the natives was evil. americans knew chattel slavery was evil. americans fought and died to put an end to these things, and americans killed americans to make sure the same evil systemically persists to this very day: ICE and profitprisons fulfill those exact same functions

if you can read the actual discourse occurring during any period of usa history, there's always people who see the evil being committed with perfect clarity. a lot of these people are either killed or end up complacent, but the very idea of their existence is unacceptable to imperialist interests

my entire life i've been hearing and seeing huge groups of people denouncing the oppressive violence we produce and export, and my entire life i've been watching those voices get manipulated, misrepresented, hamstrung, and thrown into the memoryhole landfill

Look I understand I’m an outlier here bc the history has been written as “everyone (meaning the general population of the US) supported the Iraq war in 2003” but that was not my experience at all and watching the consent manufacturing of being told everyone supported it was horrifying
