Owlga and Owlgernon were quite a bit ashamed of their little brother Owlfred. Apparently self-discipline was not his forte. How could he make such a scene just because breakfast was overdue? Being older and more sensible, they didn't mind waiting. For about five minutes.

Owlga and Owlgernon were always patient. Even if they were very hungry, they didn't mind waiting; they even enjoyed it. Self-restraint was so important for shaping your character! If, however, Mom brought fresh mouse steaks for dinner, they felt they were allowed to show some enthusiasm.

Sherlock Owlmes was working on his latest volume,The Art Of Detection, including (as a bonus for his fans) The Art Of Not Being Detected. To demonstrate what this signified,Owlmes proceeded to hide behind a mount of sand. It was unfortunate that even his assistant Owltson detected him quite quickly.

Now that the Big Loud Orange Bird (BLOB) threatened to wage war against several countries, it was probably wise to move into the family bunker. Jessicowl doubted, however, that it was fallout-proof in case of a nuclear inferno, while Nicowlas muttered that in any case, the ceiling was much too low.

Watching the News on OwlTV did not normally improve anyowl's mood. Today, however, things were worse than usual. Owlizabeth had just learnt that the Big Loud Orange Bird (BLOB) had decreed a 15 percent tariff on Burrow-digging. Which would totally kill off Liz's little civowl engineering business.

Dad insisted he loved all his chicks indiscriminately and preferred none. Although it had to be pointed out that Owlfred always had top marks at Schowl, was the politest and most obedient of the clutch, and resembled Dad most. Fred's siblings were underwhelmed by his oily Dad's Good Boy performance.

Extremely handsome Owlet Nicowlas was proud of his exceptional wingspan. It was the widest in Burrowland! If anyowl had any doubts, Nick was happy to spread his wings and have them checked. He would have provided the data himself but, alas, it's not easy to hold a band measure to your own wings.

Owl Capone was the most notorious gangstowl in Burrowland. His gang made thousands of voles a week smuggling contraband owlcohol. After the train robbery on the Owlient Express, Owl Capone was considered so dangerous & so rich as to be sacrowlsanct. Still, he managed to look like innocence herself.

Owlga wondered what was so exciting about this so-called Kissing. Owlbert was all enthusiasm so she felt she had to humor him, but really - their beaks just kept entangling and she didn't enjoy chewing on Owlbert's upper beak at all. Still, he wanted to continue even after Vowlentine's Day was over.

Vowlentine's Day had given Jessicowl and Nicowlas food for thought. Yes, they were together.But no, Jess wasn't sure whether she would stand Nick's ego, his vanity, and his snoring any longer; while Nick wondered whether he really wanted a wife who wished to go to Owliversity and earn her own voles.

"... now come on, we need to get to the Owlmart." - "But Mom Mom Mom there's this lady with the camera, she wants to take my picture." - "No she doesn't, and anyway, we don't have time for that." - "Mom look, she's taking photos already." - "Stop posing and hurry up or you won't get any slug candy!"

Owlbert wanted Owlga to be his Vowlentine. He knew she wouldn't he able to resist his trademark wink... and in case she resisted anyway, he'd appeal to her sense of responsibility. "Look, Owlga, I can't brush the feathers on my back myself, I need you to help me..."

Faster, higher, wider - that was not Owlgernon's approach to the Owlympic Games. He tried to introduce a new discipline to the contest: Determined One-Legged Perching (DOLP). It was not about being the first and foremost. It was about keeping your balance. That was an achievement worthy of Owldom.

"Oh no, not THAT word." - "Which one is it this time?!" - "The C word." - "Oh no. CUTE?" - "Yeah (deep sigh)." - "WHY do humans think we're CUTE? Don't they see our sharp beaks? Our claws? Our unsanitary and brutal way of life? Hey, we're birds of prey, we eat sweet little mice. Not that cute, ey?!"

A large stuffed folder of files with the title “Epstein” is seen with what looks, at first glance, like a red page marker sticking out of the bottom. On closer inspection it is the bottom of a Trump red neck tie. French newspapers once again showing the kind of basic journalistic integrity lacking from most US national newspapers - whose collective negligence has helped ensure a man implicated in the world’s most notorious sex trafficking ring gets to remain President. That the orange pedo felon remains in office is a plague on all their houses. Cunts, one and all.

Owlexander had formed an all-family team for the Superb Owl Contest (SOC). There couldn't be any doubt they were the Superbest and Super-Best of all Owls worldwide, even with Owlga on their team (Owlex hadn't succeeded in discouraging her). For reasons noowl knew, they needed a pellet-shaped (1/2)

Stirring up desert sand and raising clouds of dust was against the Burrow Owltiquette. Which was exactly why Owlexander didn't give a tailfeather. He threw around clawfuls of the stuff and still managed to look perfectly innocent. But he couldn't fool Owlga who kept an eye on him and his mischief.

Primowlballerina Powla was famous for what non-ballet Owls called jumping (or even hopping). Her jetes, sissonnes and sauters were so light-clawed and elegant they had an almost magical quality. Then came the day she'd eaten one or two voles too many, and the seam of her tutu gave way mid-sauter...

Owlbert was a notorious Dandy. Noowl resisted his appeal, especially his trademark wink when he let his feather coat slip a tantalizing bit. That an Owlette would not succumb was new, and a bit of an offence to his mascowlinity. Bertie had no idea that an artist like Powla lived only for the stage!

Owlgernon ist furious. I've ruined his Zen serenity by misspelling his name. It's OWLgernon, of course!

Algernon was into Zen meditation. He wasn't really sure what Z.E.N. stood for (zoologically enhanced naps? zero energy nights? zesty experimental nudism?) but it sounded cool. As far as his experience went, meditation had always something to do with closing your eyes. Plus you were allowed to snore.

Na, beinahe.

All Powla and Rudowlph had wanted was some time for themselves, and a romantic outing among the alfalfa flowers. They might have known Bud Butterfly would find them, leer knowingly, and point out that this kind of shrubbery wasn't the best place for a proper ballet training. No dance floor in sight.
