A pretty fun and special day yesterday, at Apple HQ in Battersea Power Station picking up podcasting tips from people who really do know what they're talking about.

Then the Independent Podcast Awards; up for Culture and Business, didn't win but one of the best awards dos I've been to, bravo ✨

Communication Untangled is up for two awards tonight in the Independent Podcast Awards!

Plus Apple are putting on a mixer at Battersea Power Station at lunchtime time for finalists. Not sure what a mixer is - except in production terms - but I'm about to find out 😊

Two weeks today I'll be on a plane to Peru. Which is very exciting - and also my to do list before then is down to my ankles. It's fine it's fine it's fine it's fine it's fine...

Yep. The best messaging and comms can't save a duff strategy, although it might mask it for a while.
Also, as a comms pro, I find that if it's really hard to figure out how to talk clearly about a company or an idea, it's a dead giveaway that there's something strategically missing.

So I had the honour of giving out the final awards on the night, for Lifetime Achievement and Overall Winner, which was pretty special. Such an incredible mix of business women there, great to be part of it

Excellent day, very inspiring and thought-provoking day. Now on the (fragrance free) rail replacement bus home. At least the bit in the middle was good!

Off to the Cambridge Judge Business School excellent Wo+Men's Leadership Conference so things should pick up substantially in an hour's time!

What a tragic and bitter story. I dislike intensely the trend for dehumanising language (surrogate, not surrogate mother, and gestational carrier) and the transactional, exploitative approach to women's bodies

Six years after our April Fools joke that downstairs from our old HQ a new Brexit-themed cat cafe called Rees-Moggy's was opening up, I was delighted to see there actually IS a cat cafe coming to Mill Road, Catte Latte 😹

I was thinking yesterday that it does have the makings of a beautiful town square like you see in Belgium, Austria and big European cities. It wouldn't take much to make it a delight

Not only is Meta a tainted brand that people now deeply distrust, but from a physical perspective, do they ever consider the millions of people like me who wear glasses already - are we wearing two pairs at once?!

Note for @acarpen.bsky.social. In my feedback after the (excellent) event, I said on one hand I found the Guildhall an old-fashioned venue, but thought it's GOOD to root it in the community, to avoid tech being in a bubble, a reminder that wealth generated needs to benefit the local community too
