a power hitting 3rd baseman who profiles more as a 1st baseman? I think we just locked one of those up for 14 years...

Itโ€™s also not true on either sideโ€ฆ If the right really โ€œdidnโ€™t careโ€ about Trans peopleโ€ฆ they would shut the fuck about themโ€ฆ

He doesn't mind being seen as "the villain". Since he retired from being a baseball exec, he's kind of been on that path where he doesn't care how people feel about him.

I actually kind of liked Sampson until I saw that doc. He came off totally unlikeable outside of a few moments.

I don't think people are shocked that Bieber signed with the Jays. People are shocked that he used his $16M player option to do it. He could've declined that option, and the Blue Jays would've happily paid more for him to return, as they've shown the willingness to spend consistently.

The NHL getting rid of the โ€œpuck firstโ€ rule continues to suck.

I don't think this is as unexpected as people believe. I know everyone assumes a player is going to cash in as soon as he gets a chance.

In Bieber's case, as good as he is, coming off injury, one season at full health on a good team. It puts him in a great spot to make Max Fried money in 2027.

05.11.2025 17:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

People only want it with the hindsight of it working out. If it doesn't work out perfectly, it's bad management.

That's the rule. Pay your players what they're worth, but if it doesn't result in team success, it's a bad use of resources.

05.11.2025 17:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I wouldn't be so sure. Bieber is as good as it gets. Even if he's leaving some money on the table, a full healthy season heading into free agency a year from now puts him squarely in $200M - $250M territory

charging people for public safety is fucking insane.

The only battle is making sure they don't get in their own way, and just let the voters decide.

Endorse who is making traction publicly. There doesn't have to be a hard and fast "direction" of the party. Get the votes you need.

The direction of the party is irrelevant if you lose.

Imagine adding a lefty with elite stuff to a Rotation that already has Bieber, Gausman, and Yesavage.

Leaves room for a pair of long men in the bullpen. Lauer from the left and Francis from the right... If he's healthy.

You still have Sandlin, Varland, Hoffman in leverage. That's a hell of a team.

05.11.2025 17:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

It will cost you both Loperfido and Lukes probably. Tucker being a lefty, will eat up all the OF ABs for those two guys.

I'm not against Tucker. I just think the Jays are better off using their resources to beef up their rotation. I would love to see them swing for Ranger Suarez or Framber Valdez

05.11.2025 17:02 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

No you don't. Tony, if healthy, will hit you 35-40 HRs with power almost equally for both sides of the plate. If you thought the Jays offense was scary before, add a switch hitting 40 HR threat in the middle and see how teams try to figure out how to matchup relievers between him and Vladdy.

05.11.2025 16:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

So does Gleyber Torres. I like him as a fit defensively better than Bregman, since Bregman doesn't seem all that interested in playing 2nd base.

05.11.2025 16:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

how on earth do they fit Tucker into an outfield/DH that already features Lukes, Loperfido, Varsho, Straw, Schneider, Santander, Springer, and Barger potentially?

Sign Bo to play 2nd base, or I might turn to Gleyber Torres if Bo signs elsewhere.

I would love to see Ranger Suarez in a Jays uni.

05.11.2025 16:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I bet he is taking the option to go out and pitch a full season with a good team, and then really cash in. He's definitely left money on the table, but a full season at full health for him could easily get him into Max Fried territory in terms of contract value.

I think, if the #BlueJays win tomorrow, and they end up facing the Yankees in the ALDS, they should all have "Not a First Place Team" shirts made for BP.

I lowkey like this for the Avs actually. His style of game could fit really well with the NHL teamโ€ฆ especially if heโ€™s given some run with the LOC injury.

Itโ€™s just looking around the league at other comparable players who have signed in the last year or two. Itโ€™s not exactly rocket science.

Hockeycomparables.com had his projected contract right in the wheelhouse where he signed.

Theyโ€™re going to have toโ€ฆ though I do wonder if a Manson trade is in the cards now now that Burns is on the team. Makar, Burns, Malinski, Mansonโ€ฆ the right side on D is pretty crowded.

03.07.2025 18:34 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

They traded Coyle because of their specific cap situation. Not because heโ€™s overpaid commensurate to the market overallโ€ฆ They wonโ€™t be trading Colton now.

Fact remains that, Suter was not overpaid based on the market for Cs. And, he wouldโ€™ve been a perfect fit for the Avs given their needs.

03.07.2025 18:31 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I support this. Middle of the 8th, like โ€œSweet Carolineโ€ at Fenway.

03.07.2025 10:19 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Has Charlie Coyle been overpaid? Only one 25 goal seasonโ€ฆ more of a 3C than a 2Cโ€ฆ. Heโ€™s been at $5.25M from long before the cap increased.

Ross Colton has never scored 25 goals. $4M? No problem.

Suter is not overpaid, especially on a short 2 year deal.

03.07.2025 10:13 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

On the other hand, 23 of his 25 goals game at 5 on 5. One of the other two was a short handed goal.
Not filling the stat sheet on the PP.

Either way, heโ€™s a bargain under $5M. And he would slide right into the spot that was held by Charlie Coyle.

03.07.2025 10:07 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Lol overpaid? 25 goals, 200 ft 2nd line centre for under $5Mโ€ฆ

03.07.2025 01:02 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I 100% did forget that this happenedโ€ฆ.

02.07.2025 22:09 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Frankly, Iโ€™d rather just get a Necas extension done and use the $7.75M to add some real depthโ€ฆ which is why I liked Suter.

Maybe some of Roslovic, Beauvilier, Sprong, Kiviranta, Vesey, Olofssonโ€ฆ not sure where they go on defense.

02.07.2025 22:08 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Theyโ€™re going to need more than $7.75M for himโ€ฆ maybe they sign him and trade Necas
