Poor Joanna.

She clearly had no idea what she was getting herself into.

Plumtree is way ahead of you there, having picked up a tournament-ending injury last week.

0-6.

Eryri resident here.

This feels so, so, *so* correct.

But we'll take the win. Damply.

Also, nearly half of Britons think public services are a mess and somebody should do something about it.

Reminded of the time Ivo Graham turned up at the Machynlleth Comedy Festival with a work in progress show about Wales embracing the Green Party. He'd brought maps.

A minute in, an audience member pointed out that the green bits on his maps were Plaid Cymru Senedd members and things went a bit flat.

You've misspelled "stagger" and "cope", James.

Winston Churchill and Barack Obama Stand Aside. Today in the Senedd โ€œWe Almost Beat Scotlandโ€ There comes a moment in any struggling organisation when the people running it stop sounding in control and start sounding defensive, confused and a bit annoyed that anyone is asking questions at aโ€ฆ

'The WRU keeps repeating that governance has now been โ€œprofessionalisedโ€. To many inside the game, it increasingly looks like a system full of new titles and reshuffles rather than clear results'.

Pfft. Sky Sports commentators have just described a golfer who is younger than me as a "veteran".

A golfer! A veteran golfer!

It was only the match-winning try with 5 minutes to go. Nothing too important.

Yeah. Their bench had a much bigger positive impact than ours.

Not one I'd choose, mind

I mean, that penalty was awarded with 70 seconds left.

By the time Russell placed the kick, the clock had lost 20 seconds.

It's been a while since we could blame the ref for shepherding an opponent home.

So, there's that, I suppose.

This is approximately 240,000,000% better than anything we've managed this season.

Scotland have been comically clumsy, though. I don't think we can expect them to be this hapless for another 40.

There should have been at least one more.

Andre Cuny, refereeing Wales-Scotland in 1976, pulled a calf muscle 10 minutes into the second half, and refused to yield despite being immobile.

He didn't get with 30 yards of a ruck for the rest of the game, which unsurprisingly became free-for-alls.

That breakaway featuring only front 5 forwards was the undoubted highlight of that, and probably every other, half.

Magnificent.

Thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Thank you!

One (hopefully helpful, and exceptionally nerdy) addition. You note that the first use of 'wooden spoon' may have been in Frank Marshall's "Football: The Rugby Union Game" in 1892.

I think you're right. The following is on page 258:
