Steve, I only responded to your post to correct it because no penciller ever cut zipatone shading film ever:) That has always been a value added thing from an inker!

One other thing is, sometimes credits are lettered in and can be wrong, but those art files get reprinted without correction. I’ve had my name misspelled, and credited as an “inker/ embellished” when being paid for finishes. Those mistakes can screw you out of royalty percentages forever:)

Carlin valued the contributions of everyone on his books. Brett came on the books with Perez, and was always a finisher. I can’t remember if Dan was doing layouts when inked by Thibert, but I think so. Paying for “finishes” is a way to reward good inkers with a small pay raise, and is earned.

It doesn’t not diminish what Dan was doing, as his pages are always vibrant and exciting, as are his scripts. But Brett is an inker/finisher like Tom Palmer, Klaus Janson who always interpreted pencil lines, not just followed them. Credits were often hazy about actual contributions.

Larry Hama, who made that into a franchise with his comic stories, should be given a chance to reboot this movie. As others have said, with so many good choices available, why embrace a problematic, troubled guy who also seems to hate the idea of fandom?

They feed on people with addictions, and serve no purpose. Except to make money for their investors. We used to at least pretend to be better than this.

She was one of the best! Never recall meeting her, but her work, especially in the 1970s was an influence on me as a youngster.
