#WIP - This little 54mm vignette is starting to come together. More to do on the Sergeant before I start the groundwork, but am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

#WIP - working on the Sergeant for my little Crimean War vignette. Note to self - use notebook on workbench specifically there to record colour combinations as it would make life a lot easier when painting additional figures! π #histscalemodels #scalemodels

Ignore the groundwork, as I will tie that in with the second figure and the base, but I reckon the officer is pretty much there. #histscalemodels #scalemodels #miniatures

Or if you want something a little different (and I love the way you do different in your vignettes and dioramas), then you could do it in the colours of the UN in Bosnia. Pics of Warriors from 1st Bn, The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment (finest Regβt in the British Army! π) in Bosnia, 1995.

Also, donβt forgot that dry mud on highlights will look lighter than in shadows. A common mistake is just painting one colour of dirt all over without thinking how it relates to the light. Using AK Ultra Matt varnish as a thinner will keep the weathering dead Matt too. Hope this helps.

Nicely done. Weathering can be done with oils or with acrylic washes using thinner (I do the latter). See pic below. Although US (and a colourised photo) note where the mud is and how it has dried. Rather like a veh, there will be more dry mud but maybe wetter and darker patches on boots, knees etc.

Work in progress of a 54mm white metal Officer from the 33rd of Foot, Crimea. Painted with acrylics.
Hmmm, the Indian Army officer needs some work aligning hands with arms with sword etc, and I was in a painting mood, so quick project switch. #WIP of a 54mm white metal Officer from the 33rd of Foot, Crimea, 1854. Painted with acrylics. #histscalemodels #scalemodels

A work in progress of a model bust depicting a Parliamentary cavalry officer in the English Civil War.
#WIP - Not much bench time in the last couple of weeks but at least this FeR Miniatures English Civil War parliamentarian now has his lobster pot on! Still a long way to go but enjoying taking it slowly. #histscalemodels #scalemodels #busts
