Last one (2023) started the stupid lottery crap. Plus Willie Wonka for meet and greet which seemed to all go to streamers first and was supposed to be random as well. Probably had a list of marked names for a separate stack of backpacks that had the gold tix. 2018 was better.

I realize they don't want ppl buying their way through with 💵, but this needs overhauling!
But, if I'm going to poke the digital media snake.. I also have to bring up the entire DRM & ability for companies to revoke your access to games you paid for simply bc you stopped subscribing to their service. Whereas with physical, bought once & owned forever (essentially).

Of course, there are USB drives that can plug in & allow reading disc formats for PCs, but I wasn't initially going to go into that bc character limits & sending like 15 tweets.
Digital has been pushed by the industry bc saving costs of making physical media, packaging, shipping, etc.
Maybe it stems from those of us who remember a time when playing games was as simple as buying the game, opening the box, plugging it in, and PLAYING.
Maybe it's just the sheer annoyance of EVERYTHING now requiring yet ANOTHER login & password to remember.
More barriers = less participation.
