...intelligence, and more! It was a pleasure to chat with Cinzia, and she brings a unique perspective and academic rigor to researching and investigating the events of the mid 1980s (and also 1500s, and possibly 2100s) described in The Vertical Plane.
Check it out!

This week's episode of The AP Strange Show is a doozy as Dr. Cinzia Yates of @dodlestonresearch.bsky.social and I dig into one of the most puzzling cases of weirdness out there- mysterious time-traveling messages, poltergeist activity, possible non-human...

I really enjoyed chatting to AP about Dodleston and all the weirdness it involves... be sure to have a listen when it is out as I go into not only the tale itself, but also my research methods and questions...

Wales needs equal connectivity with England before we can do cool tech stuff. (Bannau Brecheniog still has black spots!)

If youβd like to tip me for my work at any point to help toward research expenses you can buy me a coffee at Ko-Fi:

Been doing a bit of website maintenance (well, trying to figure out WordPress which seems to have hidden all the vaguely useful features) and have popped in a link for Ko-Fi if you want to chuck me a tip to put towards books and research expenses.

Many people binned old stuff they found the same way we do now. If you moved into a new house and found a fifty year old hand written book that was clearly nonsense it would likely be chucked out. I worked with 19c MSS, some of which ended in a fire in the 1960s. Our national sound archive
05.02.2026 19:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We think of manuscripts as precious objects, and something created 500 years ago would indeed be precious. However, we have to consider how that artefact may have been valued between then and now. 500 years ago there were manuscripts everywhere. And many of them held no value at that time.

I am aware that others are searching for the manuscript produced by Tomas and left in Oxford in 1548ish. I am not.
While it would be great if it was found, my experience with MSS material suggests that if it did exist it is unlikely to have survived. Its not a good use of resources.
To assess oral history you first examine any easily verifiable aspects - 'it was a dark and stormy night' can be verified by checking the weather on that day. There is no point chasing the impossible without first confirming the possible.

Finding simple corroborating evidence is not an accusation of falsehood, but working from the assumption of falsehood can lead to finding corroborating evidence that it is true!
Right now I am looking for records of interaction with external bodies. Brasenose, SPR, even the military.
Encountering a lot of snippiness about trying to find records that would prove TVP isn't a work of fiction. I only have anecdotes and a book to work from and the claims are scientifically impossible. Any investigation has to include skepticism when there are so few sources.

So many questions!
