This region is in best light about 8 or 9 days after the new Moon. The large crater below is Copernicus, one of the most spectacular to be seen. This image was captured using a 200mm Dobsonian scope, a 25mm lens, a 2 x Barlow magnification and a mobile phone attached

A favourite Moon region (and that of many fellow watchers) is Sinus Iridum, the 'Bay of Rainbows'. This bay & surrounding mountains is imo the most attractive features on the Moon. When Sinus Iridum is still in shadow, the Montes Jura is visible as a 'Golden Handle'. #astronomy #astrophotography
