They do and so do bobcats and cougars! Cougars are the largest cat that purr so paradoxically they are considered “small cats”. (I don’t think purring is the only reason, it’s how they’re constructed.)

This is a really thoughtful and thorough examination of the philosophical ideas in my Battleworld miniseries…I think Eric put more thought into it than I did! And he nails what the rest of the creative team brought. Thanks for taking the time, sir, I appreciate it!

Oh, I was joking a bit. I don’t actually do that. I do impress upon them that it’s very hard to succeed and it’s best to 1) have another trade to fall back on and 2) derive satisfaction from the art itself, making it and improving at it, not selling it commercially.

I think it’s clear from the number of artists who, after becoming established as writers, minimize or even stop drawing which is harder. I’m not saying they dislike drawing or lose interest in it, I mean which they choose to do for a paycheck,

The other question was who makes his costume. A blind guy sewing his own suit was out. I looked at our list of approved characters and saw Melvin Potter/Gladiator, so I pitched that he was a gadget guy for Fisk who DD ends up helping and he makes the suit. (In comics, Potter has a costume shop.)

I pitched the idea that at some point Fisk frames black-suit DD as a criminal and the papers brand him as "The Devil of Hell's Kitchen", then when his actions reveal him as a hero the papers revise that to "Daredevil". Not poetry, but serviceable, and it stuck.

Context: One of the things we had to figure out was how DD gets his hero name. In the comics, his boxer Dad didn't want him doing physical things like sports and fighting like him; he wanted him to be a lawyer. The other kids mockingly called him "Daredevil". That didn't quite work in 2014.

Nice! That’s one comic I’ve never owned. At prices these days, probably never will. I do have other books signed by Len, like JLA #200… delightful guy.
