The Motion Picture Association – Canada (MPA-Canada), supported by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Canada, held an event showcasing the vital role of the global studios and streamers in Canada's creative economy.

A big thank you to the CIFF team for organizing this event and having us be a small part of it! We are looking forward to attending next year and providing more exposure for our union across the Prairies!

Our team had an incredible time interacting with all those who came to our table, asked us many questions and were able to hear about on set experience from our member representative, 2nd AC Member at Large and Chair of the Trainee Committee, Ivona Ries.

We worked closely with Local 212, which made a huge impact for our unions. We went all out with two camera setups, showcasing zoom and prime lenses, courtesy of ARRI Rental Calgary.

It was a busy weekend full of meaningful discussions and meeting passionate people interested in getting their foot in the door for the film industry. We were thrilled to provide guidance on the different avenues for membership with the union and the Trainee Program.

We had the privilege of attending the Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) industry panel on “How to Get Into the Industry” and participating in their annual career fair expo for the first time.
