So here's all I have to say about Charlie Kirk's assassination:

You don't have to feel sad for his death. I would argue you don't have to feel sad it has come to this. After all, he started this cycle of grievance politics.

I would, though, urge pause and appreciation for how fast we got here.

So here's the thing. I KNOW time is not a flat circle, as some people rather glibly say.

Because if it were, it would not be NEARLY as bad as it is now. Like, we are losing rights at a really rapid clip. Unless this flat circle reaches back to the fucking Stone Age, we are in uncharted waters

Hard to argue with that. No one's even saying what it was this professor was teaching that resulted in her firing.

As for the student, I'm partly convinced she was paid for her actions. Just a hunch. These things never come out of nowhere.

I wonder how long it's going to be before our former close allies (EU and elsewhere) start taking political refugees from the US.

I need you to call your reps and tell them to oppose the HHS appropriations bill. They are trying to sneak a nationwide total trans healthcare ban in it regardless of age.

Not current event related, but my coworker's got me fucked up if he's complaining about how cleanly I work in the restaurant.

Now some viewpoints truly are offensive, but those are only the ones that demand a specific way of living from others, often times when those conditions do not fill their needs.

ALL of this to say that, once people realize that, we can have a REAL, MEANINGFUL, RESPECTFUL conversation. Only then.

A good effort, but this comes as an entire nation seems hell-bent on misunderstanding trans people. His voice won't move the needle. I guarantee some "allies" will panic and flee from the community over this, seeing us as too risky for their image.

After this shooting in Minneapolis, expect the pitchforks and torches toward trans people even more.

Not a Kristallnacht or anything (yet), but rather the most extreme scrutiny of out trans folks we have ever seen. Slurs normalized, feeble "allies" peeling off, the works.

In short, he is normalizing transphobia within the only opposition party worth mentioning. If it becomes normalized, how long will it be before Dems just stop even trying to protect us.

When everyone agrees you don't matter, how do you live?

Now we know this administration works against any "threat", but this whole saga illustrates that it is also incredibly petty. They cannot be wrong, and will go to great lengths to "prove" it.

Mr. Garcia's only blessing is that people are paying attention. How many more will vanish?

I like what Mamdani is doing.

Walking around as president while wearing a hat that says you were right about everything should automatically trigger the 25th Amendment.

It just occurred to me that a former acquaintance of mine (voted for Trump) kept saying he was looking out for "the best for everyone, not just a few."

Can these voters actually discern between themselves and just how different everyone else is? Or is it just a ruse anyhow?
