When the world turned its back on the AIDS pandemic, it was primarily Lesbians that stepped up and took care of our infected Gay and Bisexual siblings.

Today is World AIDS Day. Please join us in taking time to pause and reflect on the importance of this day and to remember the many Deaf and signing loved ones, friends, and community members that were taken too soon from us by the AIDS pandemic. A list of these individuals can be found at https://deafaids.info. The Names of Deaf Lost to AIDS/HIV website is updated once per year on this day. If you know of someone missing from the list and/or have an obituary, photograph, video or other information about an individual listed, or would like to share a memory (in ASL or written English) that you have about one or more individuals you knew on the list, please submit it to names@deafaids.info. If you donโt currently know your HIV status, today is a good day to make an appointment to get tested. โTesting is the only way to know for sure if you have HIV. Knowing your status means you can keep yourself and your sexual partners healthy. Being diagnosed early gives you a better chance of living a long and healthy life.โ โavert.org We love you. ๐ *** [image: an AIDS ribbon with the names of Deaf and signing community members written inside it, names randomly taken from deafaids.info. 22.11.2025 00:54 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Trans Day of Remembrance 2025 Today we honor the lives of our trans family who were taken from us through violence, hatred, and neglect. We remember them with love and with purpose. According to the most recent global monitoring reports, at least 281 trans and gender diverse people were murdered in the past year. These are just those that we know of. Eighty-eight percent were Black or Brown. Many were activists, sex workers, migrants, and young people. Most were killed in Latin America and the Caribbean. Many were killed in their own homes or on the street. These numbers reflect not only loss but also a global pattern of racism, misogyny, and state violence that continues to target our communities. In the United States, the Trans Remembrance Project recorded 58 deaths of trans and gender expansive people. This included 27 deaths from violence and 21 deaths from suicide. Youth made up 61 percent of the suicide cases. Today we hold space for grief and remembrance. We also commit to building a world where our trans communities can live with joy, security, and freedom. Every trans person deserves a future. โ ***โ โ [image: TDOR is fingerspelt in gray letters against a faded transgender flag.
