DFO forecast a poor 2025 sockeye return. Instead they are sky-rocketing! This lineage of sockeye crashed in 2009, triggering the Cohen Inquiry and recommendation #19 was removal of salmon farms from the Discovery Islands. Minister Jordan did this in Dec 2020 and now sockeye numbers are rising.

20 years of northcoast data, i.e. Prince Rupert area on sea lice on juvenile salmon? Where can I find that, thanks so much for letting me know about this.

When I wrote the 2023 paper wild salmon hadn't had a chance to rebound. At first post salmon farming we did not see effect of rebounding herring and subadult Coho and Chinook. The 15 farms are still a factor. On the North coast there are no lice in spring (Morton et al 2004). You gotta keep up...

You fail to provide abundance, or acknowledge the increasing abundance of overwintering subadult salmon that are exposed to the 15 fish farms that remain between P Hardy and Campbell R and you fail to explain how Jeong et al 2025 are wrong. Your paper is so vague it doesn't capture what is going on

B.C.'s smallest First Nation has big plans for a 'stewardship' economy The tiny Kwiakah First Nation, with 19 members, has launched a β€œreturn home” by transforming a former open-net salmon farm into a floating, solar-powered scientific hub anchored in their traditional t...

Respect for Kwiakah! Innovative ideas on how thrive as the trees keep standing. When over a 1M salmon came back to them after removing the Mowi salmon farm in Phillips Arm, DFO wanted to intervene. Kwiakah said, no, we will let the salmon handle this themselves. It's honour to work with them

Hmmm, someone isn't reading the DFO bulletins for Strait of Georgia rivers. Ignoring the data and calling me a liar is the earmark of someone heavily invested in one outcome.

The 2024 chum salmon are the 1st that went to sea AFTER salmon farms were removed from the Discovery Islands and their survival is off the charts! The Salmon are Talking.
