DFO forecast a poor 2025 sockeye return. Instead they are sky-rocketing! This lineage of sockeye crashed in 2009, triggering the Cohen Inquiry and recommendation #19 was removal of salmon farms from the Discovery Islands. Minister Jordan did this in Dec 2020 and now sockeye numbers are rising.

When I wrote the 2023 paper wild salmon hadn't had a chance to rebound. At first post salmon farming we did not see effect of rebounding herring and subadult Coho and Chinook. The 15 farms are still a factor. On the North coast there are no lice in spring (Morton et al 2004). You gotta keep up...

You fail to provide abundance, or acknowledge the increasing abundance of overwintering subadult salmon that are exposed to the 15 fish farms that remain between P Hardy and Campbell R and you fail to explain how Jeong et al 2025 are wrong. Your paper is so vague it doesn't capture what is going on
