Denying life-saving services in the middle of a homelessness crisis is as inhumane as it is fiscally irresponsible. It is time to tell our leaders that housing
is a human right, not a bargaining chip.

Governor Scott has continued pushing to further restrict access to emergency shelters, and if this initiative moves forward, we aren’t just looking at numbers—we’re looking at families with children, neighbors over 65, and survivors of domestic violence being pushed onto the streets by July.

Right now, 660 households are standing on the edge of a crisis.

We need revenue to respond to these budget shortfalls. It's important to let your elected leaders know that you support increasing taxes on the wealthiest Vermonters to raise state revenue, including through H.621. Increased revenue strengthens our infrastructure, healthcare, housing, & environment.

The federal budget passed last summer gave each Vermonter in the top 1% an average tax cut of $57,000 — more than the average Vermonter makes in a year. Meanwhile, many are struggling to make ends meet while facing deep cuts to essential federal programs.

S.209 provides vital protections for our neighbors by ensuring that "sensitive locations"—including schools, hospitals, and community shelters—remain safe zones free from the threat of civil arrests.

S.208 demands essential police accountability by requiring all officers to clearly display their names or badge numbers and prohibiting the use of masks or disguises that hide their identity.

Two major bills (S.208 & S.209) are hitting the Senate floor this week. The fundamental safety and transparency of our communities are on the line, and we need a "YES" vote to ensure police transparency and keep our schools and hospitals safe from civil arrests.
