That said, obesity rates as shown in this chart are increasing very slowly which is positive. We need to look at reducing the percentages, but it isn't a crisis.

Improve living standards for all, and many things will trend positively.

My uneducated assumption would be because more and more youngsters spend their time on their devices as opposed to being outside with friends. Possibly a lack of youth opportunities too.

Combine that with the rising cost of living causing more people to lean towards junk food.

We all knew that the lockdown would cause kids and adults alike to have less exercise, and perhaps more unhealthier food too.

Ignoring the spike during covid, the obesity and overweight percentages were gradually increasing. That is a concern, but why might that be the case?
