Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

The Lab Battery’s Tale~ more concept designs for @realgdt.bsky.social FRANKENSTEIN! In early 2022 before production started I worked with Guillermo on keyframes & designs including the lab and battery towers! The approved designs stuck from the early phase and would carry over to the final film.

Thoughts about “AI” Yes it’s: The slop The theft The brainrot The loss of work The crumbling of creator rights The destroying of the environment and infrastructure But it's also the destroying of trust in anything that you’re not seeing with your own eyes right in front of you. Wonder now turned to the narrowing of eyes in immediate scepticism seeing something magical. Questioning the realness of everything from a stilted written apology to profound works by students in school. It feels like a slow poison to creativity and humanity at large. I think that with how uncertain things are right now for the arts, it's especially frustrating when given the advice from artist to artist that in order to survive, you have to do more, and that it's seemingly at the point where whatever more we have to do, it's never actually enough.

But also that it'd be nice to have less conversations about your art only being viable if it 'takes off'.
I'd love to see less people freak out about sub count on webtoon, or a 'flopped piece' bc it didn't get many likes.
Not bc i find it annoying, but bc it sucks to see thats all the art is worth
