Most humans do care about sentience and sentient beings.
We just need to get serious and consistent about it.
Really fast.
For so many reasons.
Including selfish ones.
Because weβre sentient beings too.

The Sentientism worldview is "evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings". Simple yet radical. https://sentientism.info/ https://www.youtube.com/c/Sentientism https://apple.co/391khQO By: https://bsky.app/profile/jamiewoodhouse.bsky.social

Itβs tempting to want to bolt on specific, hard-coded beliefs to the #Sentientism worldviewβs βevidence, reason, and compassion for all sentient beings.β
But as soon as any worldview bakes in specific beliefs it becomes, by definition, dogmatic.
Sentientism is anti-dogma.
Institutions can be sociopathic.
Systems that donβt care operated largely by people who do.
Iβm open to good faith discussions about biocentrism, ecocentrism & considering sentience beyond the animal kingdom.
But sadly, much of the time, theyβre driven by people desperate to justify the exploitation of obviously sentient animals.
Which none of these stances can do.
Imagine all moral and political philosophers throughout history and today asked the βwho matters?β question.

We humans like to pretend we are truth seeking and ethical.
Instead, we tend to start from "what I and those around me believe must be true" and "what I and those around me do must be moral."
Then we work backwards to justify ourselves.
Can we find the bravery to think and act differently?
Itβs also interesting how many of these philosophers think that non-human sentient beings should be seriously included in liberalism and justice.
This revolution is building pace. Albeit too slowly.

You might not need a new religion. You might just need a new worldview.
Like the #Sentientism worldviewβs βevidence, reason, and compassion for all sentient beings.β
Whatβs not to like?
This is a great question. I volunteer at a farm animal sanctuary, and a great many visitors comment that it feels like a sanctuary for themselves, and that it gives them great comfort to visit.

Could animal sanctuaries be like shrines or mosques or gurdwaras or temples or synagogues or churches for Sentientists?
Not as places of worship, but as places to connect, recharge, help each other and inspire visions of a Sentientist future?
