Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

A squeeze can be something nice. I'm now taking care of my own household and my 92-year-old mom, who's about to run out of money, and that is more like getting my foot caught in a trap. Obligations and worries bump along with me everywhere I go. I don't know a cute name for it.

Age 7-8 is ideal for IQ testing, I learned while working in the Springfield, Missouri gifted program. Four years old is too young. Our little city waits for referrals from kindergarten teachers, and then screens ALL public school students in 2nd grade. We've been lucky so far with funding.
