Glasgow-born Alistair Leith has worked in the city's construction industry for nearly 30 years and enjoys documenting its changing urban landscape through photography. His stunning drone footage captures the architectural context of the city through various lighting conditions...

has been evidenced in her earlier publication titled 'Fragments of Glasgow' and again in this book 'Glasgow From Above'. Whilst focusing on academic writing by day, in her free time, she enjoys curating historical and architectural information into stylish publications to appeal to a wide audience.

About The Speakers

Rosalie Menon is an architect and senior academic at the Mackintosh School of Architecture at the Glasgow School of Art. She has combined architectural practice, teaching and research for almost 25 years. Her love for the urban environment of her home city of Glasgow...

The drone footage captures the city from a new perspective picking up architectural detail from buildings at high level whilst also providing a longer view to the backdrop of the hills beyond the city.

The focus of the talk will be the evolving city skyline and the social history it represents Glasgow's transformation from the Victorian city to a post-industrial landscape with tower blocks will be discussed and the talk will be illustrated with images capturing...

NGS Talks Series #7

As part of #Glasgow850, our ‘Talks’ series brings together writers, artists, and historians to uncover the many layers of the city’s history and culture. This month, Rosalie Menon and Alistair Leith join us to discuss their book, '#Glasgow From Above'.

The exhibition will display new photographs, original plans, and introduce potential futures. This is not the complete story of these buildings but an opener to the conversation.

Historically, some of these buildings have been accessible to the public. The exhibition opens up #explorations of the interesting #histories of these buildings with the hope of furthering conversation around their cultural significance and reflecting on the city’s wider #builtenvironment.

Neil C Duff's Free Renaissance style commercial building of 1901 looks even more impressive when set against its modern neighbours. Built for George Miller, and first occupied by the Carsewell Fishing Gut Company, it was converted to housing in 2003.
