Thanks! My PCP recommending me is a trans guy (the main reason I chose him after looking forever lol) so I'm hoping he'll be able to help smooth the process

Like this is also after I didn't think I could get it in the first place because I have too high of a BMI, but they recently added another surgeon that has a higher BMI limit
It's just so wild that I'm in my 30s & still not trusted to make decisions about my own body!
Preaching to the choir, I know
No worries! I'm not sure I have any bills that allow that but I'm hoping whatever my therapist can say about it will work. I've also been on hrt off and on for over a year (not required for top surgery here but might work for the "living as gender" requirement
The whole thing is so frustrating
This is a rhetorical question btw it's just frustrating that it so clearly doesn't have nb genders in mind.

"How long patient has been living in gender β one year required for GRS" (from the letters I need for top surgery)
What does that even mean when you're nonbinary
I've been out online and to some friends for years but it's not like I can change my gender at work or present a specific way or anything
I am not super active in here as much because I got sucked back into Tumblr lol
Might change off and on
Interesting seeing the different flavors of anti-transmasculinity and other trans in fighting here vs there and also how much is the same
"While trying to distance herself from the college educated coastal elites, I mean uhh, "transgender revolution" authors, Serano collaborated with trans man Patrick Califia on Whipping Girl. Califia is an interesting person. Much like Serano, I think some aspects of his work are very insightful and others are.... not so much, specifically because it is shaped by his own history (again, like Serano, who I think is kneecapped in the world of theory by her position as a biologist). I think the important context for Califia is that he is a former lesbian separatist and is still an active, practicing Mormon. His history is necessary not brought up to disparage Califia, I very much support queer people with complex relationships with religion and find his work on sexual liberation in particular very interesting. It is, however, brought up to highlight a contrast between the trans men Serano aligns herself with vs the nonbinary trans people she attempts to distance herself from."
"the main and probably only trans guy who helped work on whipping girl is a former lezsep and current Mormon" was not on my bingo card I'm ngl

Iβm sure there will still be mixed reactions and opinions, but I hope I can broaden someoneβs perspective, be a guidepost for someone, or give someone courage and hope!β he said. Yamazaki went on to share that he previously thought he wouldnβt be able to get married, a feeling which changed. He expressed a hope to similarly βchange the feelings of even just one person, and spread the word to make the world a more comfortable place for even just one person.β Yamazaki concluded his post by wishing his followers a happy new year, and writing, βI hope that the world will become a place where everyone can live life as they are, as themselves

I mean they do have Gare who is nb and def not on the mostly transfem leaning side of nb from what I've seen, so I don't think I'd go that far
10.01.2026 15:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Like this is what I rely on the podcast for! To introduce me to concepts and resources and people I don't know! This is not my area of expertise and I shouldn't have to learn new skills to fill in the gap in the podcast that *should* be doing this work!
09.01.2026 15:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Which I brought this up on the reddit one time for a partocular episode that was named being about trans people in a specific career but was only about trans women in a specific career and I thankfully got a lot of support but also got a lot of "well why don't *you* suggest transmascs then?"
09.01.2026 15:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm being a little unfair probably; I'm not sure I actually believe they don't care about transmascs at all, but they definitely don't care enough to understand us or our issues or really bring us on when talking about trans issues

Could be
Like "well we got at least one transfem and nb so we're going to trust them with all trans issues and not worry about hiring or promlting transmascs"
I mean if the trans people you *did* hire don't seem to give a shit about them, why would you?
I guess I'm more lenient with that podcast because it's not failing to report on transmasc/nb news or playing down transmasc issues or using "trans" to mean "trans women" or only sharing Whipping Girl in their trans book recs etc etc etc
But yeah you're right BtB needs more transmasc/nb guests fs
Yeah I think they've had the trans guy from Kitchen Table Cult on there at one point and maybe one other trans guy, but that's true as well.
(They're both part of the Cool Zone network and Robert Evans is one of the main ICHH hosts)
I'm tired of being anxious every time I listen to an episode that they're going to ignore or be shitty about transmascs and nbs, and I told myself that if they didn't mention the attack on binder companies I'd unsubscribe, and I'm following through despite the extenuating circumstances.

feels even more grating now that they've started to end every ED episode with "put a trans woman on your couch" when they so easily could say trans *person* is just too much for me on top of them conveniently not having to talk about the binder situation.

"we have trans men on we just don't announce everyone's identities," when they *know* that wasn't the point is just inexcusable when there are multiple trans people hosting episodes that should know better.
And their lack of care for trans mascs in reporting and trans conversations

ED was one of the few series I was still listening to since it gives a good summary of what's going on, but almost never talking about transmascs and nbs throughout the podcast and often downplaying what we go through when we do while writing off criticism as

Anyway before I log off I just wanna post a reminder that the mod maker was just minding her own damn business when suddenly death threats against her were getting tens tens of thousands of likes.
If we're gonna to talk about not harassing trans women for nothing, we cannot obfuscate that example.
Dring a time when experts and trans folks both are issuing warnings about trans genocide, and queer folks in general are ever more under attack, this is acutely dangerous.
If a kid isn't telling their parents something so basic, it's because they've made a risk assessment about it.
meanwhile people are just posting "we have to get rid of the grody perverts" as text now. which, y'know, can't help but feel has something to do with permission from big names to be assholes. just a feeling!
