Massively saddened to hear of death of Γ‰liane Radigue. While many of her peers were writing plinky-plonk, she bravely asked what it would be like to listen to the beauty of waves contained within a single tone. She impacted so many of us by giving us permission to explore the inner world of sound.

RIP Γ‰liane Radigue. Extremely sad news.

The left [gesturing widely in a way that’s hard to pin down what I’m gesturing to] needs to take AI [gesturing more vaguely] seriously or something [moving both arms now] something will happen I think

Dropbox is so much better than iCloud it isn't even funny.

I will never, ever use iCloud for anything.

Everything definitely closes too early in Central London especially, but it would be nice if clubs and similar venues could receive special dispensations to make them harder to shut/convert into luxury flats.

Obvs not totally ideal for mixing (though you can calibrate with an EQ curve), but buying the 'expensive' HD-25s seems like quite a bad deal now. The reason people get the latter is the modular build, but one can simply obtain another pair of these for less. Pleased!

The new Sennheiser HD-25 lights are something of a bargain. Really good for 70 quid!

Don’t disturb the Lime bikes. They only gather like that when distressed.

My laptop screen has failed during the middle of something extremely important.

Now I have to ensure everything is backed up both to a drive and to the Cloud, and use my old, miserable machine for a week.

Does any other company on Earth fail as predictably as Apple?

The article, in its β€˜both-sides’-ing of the issue creates the false impression of this being a real debate. It isn’t, and no one who actually understands this stuff could possibly take this seriously.

The notion that an LLM is sentient just because it can do a half decent mockup of human speech is a ludicrous position which preys on public credulity. It is being circulated with utter cynicism.

Can AIs suffer? Big tech and users grapple with one of most unsettling questions of our times As first AI-led rights advocacy group is founded, industry is divided on whether models are, or can be, sentient

www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Every single article like this is essentially an exercise in advertorial. The OpenAI stunt of asking GPT5 to write a eulogy for previous AIs is a grift, and nothing else.

I defy anyone to find a pop record as sophisticated as Pet Sounds. Any one parameter - harmony, instrumentation, recording technique, performance can be isolated and read as utterly instructive. Totally blew my mind as a kid and my esteem has only grown with time.

Gen Z dream job alert: Starbucks will pay lucky people $136,000 to travel the world and post about coffee on TikTok The job has a six-figure salary and bonus, doesn’t require a college degree, and is completely remoteβ€”a perfect fit for chronically online Gen Z.

'Hey you guys, the beans are so good here. This beautiful harvest is coming your way too, once Starbucks figure out how to make them taste like a corroded Range Rover exhaust pipe like all our other beans. We can't wait to share them with you!'

High court tells UK lawyers to stop misuse of AI after fake case-law citations Ruling follows two cases blighted by actual or suspected use of artificial intelligence in legal work

www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Genuinely hilarious. I would like to ask Google to have the old Google back, but it's quite literally impossible now, as so many websites are now procedurally generated.

Wild, isn't it? We're heading towards not knowing anything with any certainty, ever.

There are extremely useful and interesting applications for AI, but the dash to incorporate it into absolutely everything to extract maximum capital is wrong-headed and counterproductive. The worst thing tech can ever do is make itself look uncool, and this is precisely what big firms are doing.
