I have too much cast iron and unnecessary stoneware and I don't need any more yarn. She/her.
You can take my clicky dumpster fire and egg with tiny lizard creature when you pry them from my cold dead fingers. (I mean, as my spouse you get everything when I go, but watch out for those larcenous children.) 2/2
01.11.2025 03:32 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm sorry, have you not noticed all the packages I've gotten from @mostlybree.kitrocha.com ? The lovely fidget toys that our daughter and her girlfriend promptly took from me? The others I smuggled to the office to prevent further thievery? 1/2

19.10.2025 02:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Next month, we are doing simple gift bags for holiday gifts. 4/4
18.10.2025 23:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To truly fix it, I would have to rip several seams and, well, I was already 90 minutes past the end of class time, so maybe I'll do some hand-stitching of a length of the liner fabric over it instead. Or maybe not. Maybe a visible zipper side makes it truly artisanal. 3/4
18.10.2025 23:11 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 04, because I did it to one pocket twice. And then at the very end as I was finishing up realized I screwed up the lining-zipper-exterior fabric on one side of the top zipper. This despite instructor Jean's best efforts to help my can't-do-shapes brain to get it right. 2/4

Back of the same bag with a single zipper panel. The same gold diamond geometric pattern is on the top, and the bottom is the stylized owls.
Close-up view of the inside of a bag with a fabric lining featuring a yellow and gray leafy pattern.
Photo shows the interior of one of the zippered pockets of the bag. The pocket uses the batik gold leaves (or features?) on grayish green background. At the top of the photo, the gold diamond geometric strip from the exterior panel is visible. At the bottom, the stylish owls can be seen.
Bag Class at @stitchcentral ! The last class of this session, in which we made (some of with some difficulty) the Zippy Bag by Sallie Tomato. There are three side pockets. How many times do you think I sewed the pockets closed when trying to attach various pieces to the zippers' sides? 1/4

23.09.2025 12:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An overnight tote bag. The outside main fabric has skeleton parts -- skulls, hands, ribcage, etc., with fine script naming the bones. There is an outside pocket in a dark grayish brown. The straps/handles are a lighter brown, with the sides of the straps covering the sides of the pocket and extending down to the base.
The same bag exterior, this time with the crossbody strap draped over the front.
A shot of the interior of the bag. The lining shows dark red and orange-ish poppies against a light beige background. There is an interior pocket visible.
Another photo of the interior of the bag, from a different angle.
Bag Class! I didn't actually make it to class this weekend, but finished the bag on my own.
Oxbow Tote by Noodlehead. Skeleton print by Tom Holtz, poppies by Rachel Rossi for Benartex, accent is Essex linen. Straps/hardware from Noodlehead.
The assassination of Charlie Kirk makes we worry we can no longer have peaceful discussions of whether gays should be stoned to death or civil and collegial debates about whether black people are inherently inferior. Our culture will suffer.
New York Times tomorrow
Back panel of a tote bag. There is a large print of a sketched portrait of a Gothic Gibson on girl with a small pointed witch's hat, spectacles, and a raven on one shoulder. There are aqua accents around her eyes and in her hair. The portrait has thin lines of aqua accent fabric around it and then larger swathes of black fabric with a dark gray spiderweb pattern. One shoulder strap hangs down over the photo, made from the same black fabric with a strip of aqua accent.
The front panel of the same tote. The portrait here is larger; this Gothic Gibson girl has a pile of dark hair, no hat, and spiderwebs on her portrait.
Interior of the bag. The lining of aqua; a pocket panel is visible, the exterior a dusky lavender with black potion bottles. The lining and accent fabric of the pockets is white with cursive script on it reading (among other things) eye of newt, hemlock, nightshade and the like.
Another photo of the interior.
Done. Or mostly so
as always, there are bits needing hand-stitching because I could wrestle those spots under the needle at the end. But I'm not good at actually doing those final touches, so I am declaring it one as-is.
Photo of the front and back panels of a planned tote. The fabric is a dusky floral print with an oversized portrait sketch on each panel. The panel to the right has ap portrait of a young lady with dark hair looking to the left of the frame. Her eyes, hair and gown have aqua highlights, and a spiderweb is in the background. Her portrait has a heavy, black Gothic frame as part of the print. The portrait to the left of the photo is of the back panel. This portrait is cut off on its left side. This young lady has spectacles and a dainty pointed black hat with a dark flower. A raven is perched on their right shoulder. She is looking out at the viewer. Two thin borders of aqua have been added to each side of the portrait print, and then a thicker border of gray spiderweb on black is on the outside right and left. The straps are in the same black spiderweb print with a thin strip of the aqua as an accent along one side.
Progress report. Straps have been stay-stitched to the front and back panels.
06.09.2025 00:03 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A handsome gray cat with blue eyes is lying on a throw pillow with a pattern of crossing white lines against a grayish green fabric. He is looking up at the phone camera, wondering why you aren't giving him noms. That's a nice face you have, it would be a shame if something were to happen to it
Friday handsome has plans for the weekend. They involve sleeping, noms, and ripping faces if you annoy him too much.
05.09.2025 23:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Two panels of lining for a tote bag. The lining is an aqua with a very light small floral print. The outside of the long pocket strip is a print of potion bottles in black on a dusky lavender. The top of the pocket has an accent strip of the pocket lining, which is black print on white; the words poison, hemlock, and the like are written in cursive.
Progress report. Inner pockets have been sewn to the lining panels. There was a bit of frankensteining needed for one panel due to shortage of the aqua.
04.09.2025 00:49 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Photo of piece fabric on a cutting board. The fabric is a dusky floral print with an oversized portrait sketch of a young lady with dark hair looking to the left of the frame. Her eyes, hair and gown have aqua highlights, and a spiderweb is in the background. Her portrait has a heavy, black Gothic frame as part of the print. Two thin borders of aqua have been added to each side of the portrait print, and then a thicker border of gray spiderweb on black is on the outside right and left.
A similar pieced fabric portrait. This portrait is cut off in the left. This young lady has spectacles and a dainty pointed black hat with a dark flower. A raven is perched on their right shoulder. She is looking out at the viewer.
