I have just signed up for #SC25. Looking forward to visiting St. Louis and the scientific program, but also talking #HPC and especially #quantumcomputing with many of the world leading manufacturers.

I like your illustrations as it illustrates the AE conceptually. For me the difference seems to be mostly about whether you want to emphasize the conceptual or the actual - basically the "what" and the "how". The NN illustrations put emphasis on how you can do it practically

How do you even short stocks. There are plenty that I would have shorted recently (among others the quantum companies in the beginning of this year)

Politics is a strange thing - and I feel I am missing a basic nugget of education here. Why is it that on a personal level it mostly does not matter where people come from and we get along just fine - but as soon as we start building and thinking in groups (tribes, countries etc) it turns to 💩

Now seems to be a good time to attract scientific talent from the US ...

Europe should get their act together and invest in such individuals.

The question is: why do we as a society allow for a group of hyper-wealthy people to form in the first place.

Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against people becoming wealthy, but there should be limits. "Any system without negative feedback will overshoot" (think this is from Konrad Lorenz)

Talking about Ioannidis - does anyone know if there is a site or paper checking his claims made during the pandemic? My mother in law keeps telling me how right he was about everything right from the start - and I know too few details about all of that to come back with a qualified answer

What is this institute of replication? Asking since it has an "interesting" angle here - which I would interpret as: the accounts we tried to flee from by moving to mastodon and bluesky are in close pursuit, still trying to change the discourse.

I think "Lists" is close, but I would like the content to disappear from "Following" and "Discover"

I imagine a base version to work similar to categorizing emails - basically by who ever wrote the post.

For me, this would solve the very practical problem of my standard feed being cluttered with @arxiv-quant-ph.bsky.social posts (which I like to follow as well)

@bsky.app - Feature suggestion: Custom sorting of content into different feeds would be nice and in a way a obvious way to prioritize content - as an alternative to the opaque algorithms used by twitter (which some call X), fb etc
