1) He claimed naturist leaders were intentionally undermining naturist philosophy;

2) When asked for evidence, he said he was too busy;

What I've been doing is asking for evidence to support your extraordinary claim.

Since you seem unwilling or unable to do so, I have to conclude you don't have a sufficient basis for it.

So, at this point, I have no reason to believe #naturist leaders are actively undermining naturist principles.

I have to say, this is disappointing.

1) You put forth the extraordinary claim that #naturist leaders are intentionally undermining naturist principles, but

2) when asked respectfully for evidence, you say that you're too busy.

The onus to provide evidence is on the one making claims, though.

The bottom line here is this, and as a fellow scientist you understand: whenever a claim is made, evidence must accompany it or it's baseless. And the more extraordinary 1/2

I apologize for not being aware of your work. You've obviously invested a great deal of time and effort. Could you summarize a portion of it to address those three questions I mentioned?

You're not off base at all. Direct observation, especially with multiple observers, is the most reliable in terms of assessing behavior. But psychologists no longer think of thoughts as behavior (thus, CBT). To assess thoughts, we have developed very sophisticated assessment techniques and 1/x

Habituation is a very basic phenomenon that has been demonstrated for decades in mammals. And yes, I did assert that it occurs under the right conditions in humans, too, based on my training and work with patients. So if positive attitudes toward nudity becomes more common, I would expect 1/x

As I said, this hadn't occurred to me before you mentioned it ... and I've been frustrated largely because I've not noticed any de-conflation. Again, I don't wish at all for naturism to be dumbed down. I want it to exist but I don't want the extra beliefs forced on me just because I like to 4/x

they don't intend such a shift, isn't it? I guess I'm looking for clear evidence that 1) a widening split exists between the two terms, 2) the leaders are causing it, and 3) they're doing so intentionally because they think they'll get more adherents if they reduce naturism to simple nudity. 3/x

the leaders are probably not aware they're making it happen. Now, of course they're aware of and engaging in the #NormalizeNudity hashtag promotions, but since U.S. organizations and participants (perhaps others internationally) currently equate the #nudism and #naturism, it's possible that a 2/x

Individual mindset, though, isn't irrelevant. These leaders aren't starting with a tabula rasa. I really, really doubt these people are thinking anywhere nearly as deeply about this as you have been. I'm not saying the shift to nudism isn't occurring (I've not considered it), but if it is, the 1/x

That's certainly possible, but how do we know what they thought in response to your refusal? My guess is they didn't lose any sleep over it, but it might have prompted brief reflection. Not enough for a significant shift, but such prompts add up over time.

I took social psych amongst other requirements. Prompts memories of Milgram but more relevantly, Asch.
