Similarly, I think politicians should be paid more, especially at state levels. Professionals can’t run because they can’t afford the pay cut. In Michigan, our lawmakers make $71k - Less than a late career teacher! That means the only people who run are either retired, wealthy, or underemployed.

I understand your position, but usually think about these differently. An org of this size needs someone qualified to lead, and must compete with corporate salaries. Someone with that skill set is unlikely to work on a volunteer basis.

They would make more at a similarly sized private sector gig.

It’s not their job to save us. It is the job of those we elected.

There’s one group who DID sign up for it.

The elderly should not be responsible for the duty of those who took the oath less than one year ago.

Maybe instead you could call your elected Congressperson, who is on payroll and who agreed to do this work for you.
