Let me make something very clear — Susan Collins is contributing to skyrocketing health care costs for families across Maine. It’s reckless and just plain wrong.

The government shutdown was an example of just how cruel Republicans could be to deny health care and take away food from hungry families. While the shutdown is over, the dysfunction in Trump's Washington remains. Congress must extend the ACA tax credits now.

Over 50,000 people in Maine will see their average costs more than double and about 8,000 will lose their health insurance altogether. These are our friends and neighbors who simply won’t be able to afford the lifesaving care they need for peace of mind and financial stability.

Today, as ACA open enrollment officially begins, hardworking people all across our state are beginning to receive notices that their health insurance costs will soar next year because Republicans in Congress, including Susan Collins, have not taken action.

I believe that all people deserve a roof over their heads, which is why my Administration has made the largest investment in housing in Maine history.
