Un petit dessin du roi Charles IX et Catherine de Médicis, sa mère. Charles est assis et se couvre la bouche, nous regardant en biais avec des yeux rouges et se tenant légèrement le ventre, tandis que sa mère est debout, la main posée sur l’épaule de son fils. Elle aussi nous regarde, mais elle affiche un sourire bien suspect. Leurs deux visages sont dans l’obscurité, et derrière eux on peut voir l’ombre d’un portrait et d’un bois de cerf « bizarre », c’est à dire formé différemment.

Non seulement ça mais elle est hilarante + elle fail absolument tout au final

(Franchement Catherine Jézabel c'est quand même un peu sexy de sa part, mais on en dira rien de plus, bref)

Désolé vous allez parfois subir mes débordements relatifs aux légendes noires édition spéciale guerres de religion (et encore je me retiens. Très fort.)

Bref une recette parfaite pour des petits vampires.
Bon bien sûr tout ça c'est pas vrai ! La vraie Catherine a beaucoup œuvré pour la pacification, mais la légende noire lui colle encore fort à la peau dans la fiction, coucou Dumas :^)

Été corrompu par sa mère, ayant la ressemblance des médicis mais pas le cœur, qui aurait été rendu monstrueux par le contexte... Bien sûr, dans le cocktail, il faudra rajouter une sombre rumeur comme quoi François II, le frère aîné de Charles, se baignait dans du sang pour se guérir (hahaha)...

...qui se nourrirait presque du sang protestant après le massacre de la St Barthélémy. Ajoutez à ça qu'elle est italienne et paf, on a des discours comme quoi elle aurait corrompu le sang de la couronne de France avec le sang "vicié" des Médicis. Quant à Charles, selon ces mêmes discours, il aurait-

(je fais mes explications en français, désolé) direct sorti du four collectif de la pensée Dumariolle, où on s'amuse avec la légende noire des Valois. Le thème vampirique ne vient pas de nul part : les pamphlets protestants dépeignent souvent Catherine de Médicis comme une Jézabel, une sorcière...

An emaciated Charles IX is standing in the middle of the illustration, blood dripping from his skin and fingers (the legend goes he sweat blood before he died), looking up and holding an open book from his right hand. Behind him is the figure of St Bartholomew with red eyes and a red halo behind his head. This is both a reference to the legend saying the blood coming from Charles' skin comes from the innocents killed during the St Bartholomew massacre, which he is said to have ordered (...he did not though but one of his orders started it), and the rumors of poisoning that Dumas uses in Queen Margot (Charles ends up poisoned by a book). St Bartholomew is also a reference to Marco d'Agrate's statue, made in 1562, year of the first war of religion in France under Charles IX.

Maybe I’m playing with Charles IX from Queen Margot (the book. Please) and putting him in a white dress. Maybe. Margot is also applying make up to his cheeks, saying it’s easy to see it since he’s so pale. I also shaved his beard on one of the drawings because well, I could. I actually read too many stories from the 16th century about them cross-dressing so: hell yeah we will be doing that.
