Both characters are holding their weapon, an arquebus for Charles and a dagger for Henry. Charles smiles lovingly at him, clinging to his arm while Henry’s face is more neutral. They’re looking at each other despite avoiding each other’s eyes. "Well, sire", I do not see why the king of Navarre should not do what so many gentlemen and poor folks have done. For if they all die, poor unfortunates, it is because the same terms have been proposed to them which your Majesty proposes to me, and they have refused, as I refuse." Charle's expression changes into a fierce and savage one. "What!" Yells Charles, gripping his arm. "Do you believe that I have taken the troubles to offer the mass to those whose throats we are cutting yonder?"

I don't think I've said anything here about it but I'm very passionate about checking every black legend about the St Bartholomew time period so I'm aware of Dumas' twists and it's very fun (although the story is horribly cruel) to research

im gonna be honest kitten whiskers daddy's extremely tired and not very fond of their own art (which is both annoying and 100% mine to fix)

I sincerely missed that aspect of art of drawing just because I want to and because it's fun but I'm afraid I'll get back to The Shame soon enough

These are three characters from Queen Margot (Dumas) and their dogs. Charles IX, the king, is feeding bits of cake to his two greyhounds while smiling, while Henry from Navarre holds his (an Italian greyhound) in his arms. Finally, Catherine de Medici is feeding something.. unidentified to her small greyhound. Weird move, Catherine…
