I hand her the tv remote. “I’ll go get cereal. You find cartoons.” I stand up and head to the kitchen

I grin. “Oh, we can definitely do that.”

“What would you like for breakfast today, baby?”

I kiss her head. “People are a pain.”

“That’s fair, but baby, he’s just gonna keep calling.” I sit on the edge of the bed and run my fingers through her hair

“Just tell him you quit then, baby.”

I hum and bring her the meds and water. “Tell him to go fuck himself.”

"Morning, baby. Who is calling you so early?" I walk into the room and get her medicine and a glass of water.

When I wake up, I get ready for the day and then go to Tilly's bedroom door to check on her, knocking softly

I softly say, "Honestly. We're grown ass men. We are responsible for our own shit. It's not on you."

I shake my head. “It’s not your fault, baby. We fell apart all on our own.”

"We're better now. Back on friendly terms."

I sigh softly. "We had a rough couple of years. Darien had to play referee a lot. And David won't go out to the bayou. Says the shacks remind him of his father's place."

"When I bought the place, my goal was the silence and to keep David from showing up. It served its purpose."

I pinch my fingers together. "Just a bit. It's peaceful out there though."

I nod. "Especially when I like to hide in the bayou for multiple days at a time."

I grin. "Good. I learned to cook in rehab as one of my daily chores and I've been taking lessons since. I dragged Blossom and Fee to the last set with me. We learned how to make classic creole dishes."

I grin. "You like it?"

I kiss her head before grabbing my food and taking a bite.

I smile. "I know. But I'd do it even if you didn't."

I gently tuck her hair behind her ear. "I will do absolutely anything I can to help you."

I sigh. "Oh...undergarments...they're complicated even with two working hands."

I laugh. "Only the fancy ones though...right? I mean, sweats and t-shirts are sweats and t-shirts...please don't tell me those are complicated for women too."

I laugh. "I have another hand. But Belle says for me to call and she or Trix will come over and help you take a bath."

"Always, my love." I sit on the edge of the bed. "And before you start worrying about me overusing my hand, the doctor said I just can't use my fingers as normal, but I can lift and carry things normally."

I nod and move to get her medicine, handing it and the juice to her.

I nod and carefully help her. "Of course I can. Do you need to pee before eating?"

I walk over and set the tray on the table beside the bed. "Morning, baby. How did you sleep?"

When I'm done cooking, I put breakfast on a tray along with coffee and juice before going into Tilly's bedroom. -thankfully, Max and his kids are handling the twins.-
