Calderdale The Next Chapter

At New Road and South Parade, we will remove the mini roundabout to create a new and more efficient junction layout. New cycle routes will make the junction safer and easier to use. 2 lanes on the approach to the junction will reduce journey times in this area. New crossings on Prescott Street and Church Street will help people to cross safely. Vehicles will no longer be able to access New Road from this junction, creating a calmer route for people walking, cycling or commuting into town.

The road at Lower Kirkgate and Bank Bottom will be realigned to provide a smoother and faster route with no need for a right turn across traffic when travelling northbound. We’re adding a filter for Cripplegate too to keep southbound traffic moving. There will be a new crossing on Lower Kirkgate so people can cross the road safely.

Soon, we’ll be finishing work at the top of town in #Halifax, and starting work on the east section at the bottom of town.

This week we've been preparing the site, ready for the new Halifax Leisure Centre.

We’ve been taking down parts of the old building and preparing for construction to start on the new swimming pool and leisure centre for #Halifax, funded by the UK Government.
