It just seems pointlessly cruel. Like it would be cruel either way but if you were at least putting political pressure on your opponents I guess you could justify it to yourself. This hurts a group that largely votes for you anyhow. Plus aren’t most military installations in red districts?

This feels like a massive own goal tbh. Best case scenario is that military personnel and their families stop voting Democratic, which… they largely don’t. So great, hurt your own constituents, make the country less safe, and hope they continue to not vote for the guys they’re not voting for.

I think you can easily say the same thing for the press. Everyone agrees you have to stop fascism. It’s just that’s hard and scary to do. So it’s way easier to pretend fascism isn’t happening so you don’t have to do anything about it.

A core tenant of Conservatism in America for the last 25 years has been dehumanizing your opposition. Whether it’s claiming your opponents aren’t “real Americans,” or claiming they’re “NPCs” or that they’re simply paid protesters, the end goal is the same. No legitimate human disagrees with us.

She’s an independent conservative who swapped to the Democratic Party in 17. She’s run three times in the state and never won a single time despite raising record amounts of cash from out of state. She’s a centrist Democrat who tends to run on maintaining the status quo, which hasn’t really worked
