Still there. I believe this was originally a school. The original building was put up in 1887 and moved a few years later. I believe this building was put up in stages between 1899 and 1909.

The exterior of this house is glorious. I'd share a picture but I'm too depressed to do alt text, but you should go look it up on street view.

I think they resided the upper part with vinyl and went with gray.

Still there. Offensively boring gray on gray color scheme as of 2019, though.

Assuming this address is right, it looks like this was torn down after 1995 and turned into a parking lot well before 2007. A new, really quite ugly, building was put up there in 2019.

Yeah. Crap like that happens way more often than it should. Given the U of MN's leadership, I have little faith that this health center will happen. The plot has been empty for a few years now, never a good sign.

Yup, we've got a bunch but looking at the replies I'm sure you've got it covered.

This was a church until 2022, when the U of MN tore it down to build a new health building. It's still a vacant lot as of August 2025. The building stood for almost 120 years.

Looks like this was turned into a parking garage around 2010. Permits were useless, but Google Street view's history function shows this church in 2007 and a parking garage in 2011.

724 E 26th Street if you want to look yourself.

Yeah, it looks pretty good. I'd rather no balcony than the ones in the building I grew up in. The building was a similar vintage to this, and by the late 80s/early 90s they were already rotting and blocked off for a lot of units.

Okay, so. I think this building is still there, but it's been heavily modified (a second story added at some point). The permit cards are so confusing that I'm not even gonna try and figure out when, but judging by the architectural details of the second floor probably within 10 years of this photo.

02.12.2025 22:27 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This building is still there, but it looks like they got rid of the balconies at some point. Having lived in apartments with rotting balconies before that the landlords refused to fix, this is in reality probably better than waiting for them to fall off the building.

I really hope a few copies will hit your store, I can't afford it now and probably won't be able to for a few months.

I love the 6 bathrooms but 3 bathtubs, two of which aren't in a bathroom.

Space Quest VGA (September 1990).

In a monumentally bad move, some genius from the marketing Department thought it might be a good idea to blow the dust off the original Space Quest and "update" it for re-release. True to form, this cheesy idea quickly turned to limburger when an artist genius decided to redo the game graphics with a "1950's B-movie feel." The resulting product actually looks better than the original in spite of this, probably because of the move to 256-color VGA Graphics.

This Space Quest also sounds better than the original, thanks to music card support, and the mouse control works better since you can actually use it. If you've got nothing better to do, taking the time to compare this version with the original will give you some feel for the progress made in computer game technology over the half-decade since the original was built. It will definitely make you wonder why anybody even bothered to redo the project in the first place.

I forgot how hard the Space Quest Collection leaflet went after Space Quest I VGA.

Continuing with houses near the old Sheffield Grain Elevator, this is still there. The stucco is now brown, though, and has insulation marks all around the walls.

At first I thought there was no way this building wasn't wrecked as I've walked down this street a lot and never seen it. But it's there, now a climbing gym, it's just set so far back from the street that the Google Street View for it is from the alley.

You can just barely make out the house next to the elevator.

The train tracks are now the Midtown Greenway.

The grain elevator is very gone. However, I found this house next to it that's still there. How on earth did they tear down this grain elevator that was like 15 feet away from this house without damaging it?

The caption on this one is wrong.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help was at 419 21st Ave S. As near as I can tell, 21st Ave S and 25th Street don't actually meet and maybe never did (train tracks).

The church was torn down by the U of MN, apparently they met at Augsburg chapel for a few years afterwards.

A bit hard to tell, exactly, but I think this was wrecked in 1990.

This is why I say "wrecked" on these these silly little updates. It's actually the term in the Minneapolis permit system.

Wrecked in 1971, it appears that the land is now part of Sumner Field Park.

Apparently, Russia broke their only launch platform for crewed launches. They either forgot to protect the service equipment or the protection failed (given that it's Russia we may never know the truth). I'm seeing that it may at least a year to fix.
