This image was created by combining data from a global network of radio telescopes, including the continental Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), European VLBI Network and Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia.

For example, to study the radio source MG J0751+2716, (11.7 billion light-years from Earth!), astronomers used the "lens" of a group of galaxies 3.9 billion light-years from Earth.

By observing how radio emission from the distant source is bent by the gravitational field of another massive object – the lens – located between the source and the Earth, it is possible to determine information about both the distant source and the lens.

The WSU Fiber Optics System recently passed its Critical Design and Manufacturing Readiness Review, and is planned to proceed with construction in the coming months.

Hard to believe it's already been 2 years since the ngVLA prototype antenna was first unveiled at mtex in Germany!

Since then, the panels have been installed, the dish lifted onto its pedestal, and the antenna was officially handed over to the NRAO.
