I spoiled a new mega for someone and now I feel like such an asshole

Started making something in cooking class today, I'm in a group of four, one person wasn't here today and another person cut himself with a peeler in the first 5 minutes of class so me and the one other person in our group had to do everything

Someone I was walking behind in the hallway was opening the door ahead of us kinda slowly and I heard them say "sorry" and my stupid ass didn't notice that they were actually talking to someone on the phone and I replied with "it's alright" then they just stared at me
