A peaceful spot to sit and relax - Chapman’s Pool #Dorset

Chapman’s Pool on the Purbeck coast near Worth Matravers - a lovely little remote cove that’s well worth a visit (note it’s a bit of a hike down and back) when the weather is nicer. Views from the coast path as you come from St Albans Head are particularly impressive #Dorset

I’m not sure how true but I heard it was offered to St Paul’s, Westminster and Salisbury before ending up in Wareham!

St Martin is also home to the effigy of TE Lawrence, sculpted by Eric Kennington, given to the church in 1939 by his brother. Lawrence used to visit the church when living in his small cottage at Clouds Hill whilst stationed nearby in Bovington. He is buried at St Nicholas, Moreton. #Dorset

St Martin on the Wall - Wareham - without doubt my favourite Dorset church.
Dating from 1020AD, it’s a wonderful little church with its “Saxon”-style nave & chancel, a lovely Norman chancel arch, 12th Century frescos in the chancel and later wall paintings throughout.

Enjoying a Sunday evening delve into Roman Dorchester (Durnovaria) with the 2000-01 excavation report from the former County Hospital - the mosaics, decorated wall plaster & metal finds are great, but the bone hairpin really caught my attention - what a great find!
