20.02.2026 17:04 β π 24 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0That βhappy-tearful state of delightβ is a perfect description, and is the same feeling I had with Detectorists and to some extent Worzel. He creates food for the soul.
13.02.2026 21:52 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Yes, definitely a little darker, but still full of the same humour.
13.02.2026 13:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Stopped 3 episodes in and will probably binge the rest this eve!
13.02.2026 13:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Using a day off to watch Small Prophets - typical Mackenzie Crook brilliance - wonderful characters, the usual subtle humour, heartwarming touching moments and the cinematography & music as perfect as always. Pearce Quigley & Michael Palin π

12.02.2026 19:21 β π 14 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Did you know that a new education centre is being built by hand at Stonehenge? It is based on Durrington 68, a late Neolithic square-in-circle timber structure. Watch regular updates from Luke, the project leader, here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LATY...

A great (and slightly odd) pub!
03.02.2026 08:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A peaceful spot to sit and relax - Chapmanβs Pool #Dorset
03.02.2026 07:55 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Chapmanβs Pool on the Purbeck coast near Worth Matravers - a lovely little remote cove thatβs well worth a visit (note itβs a bit of a hike down and back) when the weather is nicer. Views from the coast path as you come from St Albans Head are particularly impressive #Dorset

28.01.2026 21:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm not sure how true but I heard it was offered to St Paulβs, Westminster and Salisbury before ending up in Wareham!
28.01.2026 19:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0St Martin is also home to the effigy of TE Lawrence, sculpted by Eric Kennington, given to the church in 1939 by his brother. Lawrence used to visit the church when living in his small cottage at Clouds Hill whilst stationed nearby in Bovington. He is buried at St Nicholas, Moreton. #Dorset

St Martin on the Wall - Wareham - without doubt my favourite Dorset church.
Dating from 1020AD, itβs a wonderful little church with its βSaxonβ-style nave & chancel, a lovely Norman chancel arch, 12th Century frescos in the chancel and later wall paintings throughout.

Iβve just seen that too - such a vivid blue glass gem!

Enjoying a Sunday evening delve into Roman Dorchester (Durnovaria) with the 2000-01 excavation report from the former County Hospital - the mosaics, decorated wall plaster & metal finds are great, but the bone hairpin really caught my attention - what a great find!

Itβs just endless damp grey out there today isnβt it, and the news certainly isnβt any better. A little dose of sunshine would improve things!
