I'm feeling this a lot, especially when it comes to the construction of book covers with designs that I like.

I'm not much of an artist but drawing little glyphs and emblems is within my abilities. Gotta draw these up before I make my next revision.

This has been an important part of my journey as well. I just finished editing a draft yesterday and I'm quite happy with it, but I know it still need work. And i know how to put in that work.

And that's 40/40, chapters done in the editing pass. It feels nice to have that number done, and especially that this is the easiest editing pass I've ever had to make.

I'm going to start needing to think of covers.

This editing pass continues apace. I'm about 3/4ths of the way through the book and the rising action is rising.

I used to not like editing so much, but now it's much more fun.

Using Obsidian while working on drafts is absolutely a time and life saver. Searchable lore saves me an absurd amount of time. Translating from my notes to something I can use in the story is an important part of it.

It's not common, but the words are there for rough situations.

Two chapters today. I'm not certain if they're going fairly quickly because it's what I want, or if I'm still too close to the draft.

I need to name my things. I used to do it more often, but it fell off. Now it's only the computer.

Sure! I always like to look at new art.

Not yet. I'm still torn between a few things. Covers are very important, and I'd either need someone good at the abstract or a giant robot artist.

Sorry, but not at the moment. I'm giving my friends time to get to it. I'll keep you in mind when they're done and I fix that draft.

I'm not even sure how big an 80 lb pumpkin is. Hope the vine borers aren't a problem next year!

Oh wow these are beautiful.

I didn't really have a cover concept just yet. I want it to look like an older kind of book, though that may not fly in the end. Morjuna of Hell's Gate is the protagonist. She's one warped tuber.

Second chapter done and I'm thinking of abolishing chairs. Nobody should be sitting, everyone standing at all times. Sometimes there is something on the floor and they can kneel down. But no sitting. Not ever.

Getting back to my manuscript in a new place has made be able to find word oddities so far.

Though I almost edited a thing I hated from the first draft back in, so it's not all roses.

I've got two in the works right now, one's sci fi and the other that isn't ready for people yet us sci-fi.

I think the benefits of writing characters that are not human are many, but seeing how people interpret them and ultimately fancast them is a really good one.

Now it's Editing Time. I'm going to go through this whole book, front to back, and whip its first-draft nature into a strong second draft that I can sling to beta readers.

Started filling up my bookshelf again today. For once in my life I'm just grouping them by genre and not bothering with alphabetizing them. This may come back to bite me in the ass but I'm willing to give it a shot.
