I have some hot compost news

Is is actually about composting, or is it really about occult CIA infiltration of the communist sympathisers in the composting community. Been caught out before by this sort of bait and switch.

When we go to hospital, it’s rarely for something easy. But patients and their families are being immediately met with unreliable/disjoint public transport, lack of safe active travel options, and increasing bus/rail fares. And these fares are going up while investment in public/active travel isn't!

Three arrangements of driftwood on Portobello Beach. One a large nest of wood balanced atop a single branch, another looks like a sailing boat. The third may just be a log to sit on, not sure. Looking out to sea, Berwick Law just visible on the horizon.

Fair point. I did report it. Police came out and took a statement. They sent me a link to upload the video. Didn't hear anything else.

A trio of Robert Tinney illustrated magazine covers: Floppy Disk, Software Piracy, Smalltalk Balloon

I wrote a tribute for BYTE Magazine's amazing cover artist, Robert Tinney, who died Feb 1st

Tinney painted 80 vivid and surreal covers illustrating various concepts in early personal computing from 1978-1990, usually airbrushed with gouache. May he RIP ❀️

Watching half pipe snowboarding from the winter Olympics and getting annoyed that the rotations are not given radians. 'Backside 5Ο€' just sounds better.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβ€”because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

One bus appears to be stuck behind a car parked in a loading bay blocking the bus lane, while on the other side a taxi with its magic parking lights on is blocking a lane. Plus ca change!

Signs of a new pub for #Porty. "Dougal's - an old man pub for all ages' it says in the window. This has previously been 'The Beaten Docket', which closed at the end of 2023.

Girls football team win tiny plastic cup as boys take home full-size trophy The cup paled into comparison to the grand old trophy presented to the winning boys football team.

As a former South Morningside parent I'm really proud of the girls football team for winning an Edinburgh-wide tournament but even prouder that they stood up for themselves when presented with a tiny trophy in stark contrast to the one awarded to the winning boys

Edinburgh LS have long since gone rogue. Continuous footways (with or without cycle tracks) done well is more complex than some would realise (because there are network-level issues) and we don't have UK guidance (yet).

However, too many folks concentrate on what they are against, but won't
