I never love to see my team lose but it was such good dota.

For a variety of reasons my head is not In a super good place, given the state of both my life and the world but I do get a lot of joy from having just so many good games to watch. And it’s so early in the season!

From game to game the shift in what they chose, how they responded, and like the lane switching in game two, where players literally changed their roles to try and win on Yakult. And it worked!

game one was so clean from my boys. But in game two Yakult looked so dominant.

but it also really highlights what I love about this silly esport. These games start with a weird sort of psychological chess match of banning and picking heroes from a pool of 100+. And this best of three I’m in the middle of against Yakult is a perfect encapsulation.

the current blast slam has been the first thing Liquid played in with the new roster and it’s been uh, rough. I’m not fully caught up but man alive it’s hard to watch five very good players just like, not figuring out new team dynamics.

that said blast slam is a lot of best of ones which is the

post TI always involves shuffles and there were some wild moves.

as history, in 2024 the number one opponent for liquid was easily gaimin gladiators. So it’s very neat and also funny that the post TI shuffle ended with two GG players joining Liquid.

the international was rough as a liquid fan. They won 2024 but didn’t even get past the group stage this year. Then they let sabrelight go, which makes sense to me. I liked him but it never seemed to gel fully. Then Insania retired.

I understand intellectually and on some sense affectively that the cruelty is the point, but jesus christ, the destruction of the office that enforces special ed laws is so brutal. The harm this will cause, the massive amount of work it will take to get things back to the current not good state...

I just wish we lived in a world where caring about each other was enough to support human flourishing. Instead we have to oppose fascists and nazis, it’s embarrassing tbh

I wanted to also play Comancheria while they were away, but instead I got three stars in three different Two Point Campus schools. I’ve been very productive tbh.

I’m also going to try and ignore my predilections and focus on military stuff. I love to win by turtling and focusing on economy (as my fav solo youtuber has said, a tall approach) but two rifts demand a more aggressive wide approach I think, so we will try to attack!

I tried the second scenario on medium twice and got destroyed both times so I have given in to my craven desire to win and am playing this third scenario on easy, it has TWO rifts! I just don’t want those pesky voidborn to win :(
